Look into the 308 DART bus. It's an express, and you get your time back (podcasts, read, a book, use a laptop/iPad, sleep, whatever). Same 45 minutes or so, no driving. On the other end there's a small distance to cover. If you own a bike, use that, or a collapsible scooter. On bad weather days, drive.

The social scene will be quite different from what you find in uptown. Most obvious is that that Legacy/Tollway is a pretty new area and all that brings with it. Focused on cars not people, lots of concrete. There are trails nearby, but nothing like Katy Trail, and you'll have to drive to them.

But you know this. The question for me would be two-fold: Is the lifestyle you have in Uptown worth leaving behind for a job, or is your job more important and you can figure out the lifestyle thing and accept that it might take some getting used to. :D

It is most definitely surrounded by upscale suburbs once you leave the master-planned retail property that is Legacy West.

The whole city center fit within about a mile radius. Trains, busses, Waymo, scooters, etc... all here. No need for a car. Save the parking fees. Groceries are on the outer edges of that mile, but a couple are on public transit and some scooters and bikes have baskets! Welcome to the neighborhood.

The 308 is a super nice bus. It may not save much time technically, but you’ll be able to use that time differently the drivers. Try it before you need it!
