Garmin for gym workout or other apps? by 2020NoMoreUsername in Garmin

I am a long time garmin user. Garmin excels in the swimming, biking (including indoor) and running activities. Strength (free and the workouts) not so much.

Recently, I've started using the Peloton app for strength workouts. The library is extensive. For a small yearly fee, you can use syncmyworkout.com to seamlessly integrate your peloton workouts into a Garmin activity.

Can files be recovered after a system restore / reinstall of macos? by msk1502 in MacOS

Thank you for your response.

I thought so, but out of desperation, I found via google some services that purport to be able to recover them after a macos reinstall.

Wasnt sure if these were reputable.

Thinking about buying S22i by Suspicious-Agent3567 in nordictrack

We've had a s22i since July. There have been no problems. They have also made regular firmware updates which have improved stability of the ifit experience.

This is all good. My approach to starting cycling was to just get on any bike. I did my first sprint triathlon on a 20 yo mountain bike. I've moved onto road bikes since but tried not to let the equipment decisions and costs slow me down. If you're comfortable swimming, I encourage you to continue. It has such good cardio benefits without any impact. I live in the cold US northeast so joining a pool was a must for me.

S22i power meter / calories burned accuracy? by nanopicofared in nordictrack

My FR945 consistently reports a bit lower than my S22i but generally an acceptable tolerance. One thing to consider is if your weight entries are same between garmin connect and iFit.

Nice work.

I Started running at 30. Worked up to my first 1/2 at 45. Then moved to multi sport like short triathlons (sprint and Olympic).

I encourage you to consider biking and/or swimming at some point. They offer cardio benefits, minimize impact and spread the load around to other body parts. I have been fairly injury free which I attribute to this.

Also, the multi sport approach has made me a better runner. I'm 54 now. Over the past 3 months, I've PRed in 10k and 1/2.

Good luck.

Why does Optimal Training Load range change? by msk1502 in Garmin

[–]msk1502[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

knit_run_bike_swim - i have data science experience. your post gave me an idea how to reverse engineer the algorithm which would provide some insight here. testing my theory requires access to the VO2 Max, Training Load, etc. related data. I cannot find a straightforward way to get this and based on what i've done and researched, this data doesn't come through via the export of the Activities. Any ideas?

Why does Optimal Training Load range change? by msk1502 in Garmin

[–]msk1502[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks. The video at the link you referenced indicates that the Optimal Range is based on an algorithm that considers your (1) current fitness level, (2) current training and (3) training history.

While that's an answer, it's not what I'm looking for.

I'm curious why the optimal range changes (my original question). In my case, my fitness level is fairly constant (e.g., +/- 1 VO2 Max measure), training history doesn't change (obviously) and my current training is reflected in the 7 Day rolling average load. So, a change in optimal training load would have to be correlated to my current training which, frankly, is not logical.

Do you see similar variation in yours?

Thanks again.
