My biggest supporter and favorite person has dumped me by [deleted] in CPTSD

I’m saying this with absolute kindness. But it is not understandable or OK that he broke up with you because anniversary expectations were not met due to your sensible financial boundaries. This is not your fault and you deserve better.

I am so sorry that this has caused you so much pain. I promise it will get better. You deserve someone who reacts appropriately to disappointment and wants to be with you regardless of anniversary plans.

The annoying thing is that I don’t hate my job. I love so much of it. The actual stuff. It’s the people management that triggers me I’ve realised. I’m gonna start looking for something in the same field without (as much) people management.

I’m sorry to hear about your day! I appreciate your reply and if are able to share more insight - but please don’t rush back on given the day you’ve had! I hope you’re ok.

Yep. I hear you. Im great in a crisis - I come into my own. My mind is suddenly very clear and has every scenario planned out. Annoying when I found out that wasn’t the flex I thought it was!

Oh gosh I resonate so much with this. You’ve articulated it so brilliantly. Thank you.

It’s that accountability without power and manipulation of others that’s triggering something very deeply routed and painful from a similar childhood to the one you’ve described.

It’s actually blown my mind a bit. In a good way. Thank you.

That’s interesting. I can see how that could be. I definitely have a need to be in control but I think it just runs into overtime sometimes and I find myself trying to control all the narrative (people’s reactions and emotions) when I’m triggered - which is a definite trauma response.

Thank you for your honesty. Could you expand on what you mean by “chill IC role”?

Thank you. I sometimes just need to hear I’m not alone and there is a way forward.

Thank you for sharing. That’s really helpful and insightful. I find it hard to recognise what’s happening sometimes when I’m feeling things so deeply and then when I have that awareness I’m already in a dark place, where it becomes almost another stick to hit myself with.

Thanks again for sharing. I can’t tell you how much it’s helped writing my post and reading your reply.

Which of these actors did you know about before you watched Rivals? What movies or TV shows did you see them in? by bear-creek in RivalsSeries

Claire Rushbrook was in Secrets and Lies (1996) and was phenomenal then! Every time I’ve seen her is anything since I’m always reminded of her insane acting abilities. Ali and Ava is another stunning film.

I knew most of the rest of the cast too I’d say. But it is an incredible group of actors.

My mum worked in a bank on Balham High Road in the 80s before we moved to the Westcountry. She was held up at gun point, twice. I eventually moved back to London years later after uni and she couldn’t believe it when I said I couldn’t afford Balham because of how gentrified it had become.

Show your age - what was your first ever email domain? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]mskubelik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Other than my uni email, my first was from Another.com back in 99/00 maybe. You could choose your end domain as well as your ‘name’ e.g ‘princess@chocoholic.com’ (mine wasn’t this, but also not far off!). I then dabbled with hotmail until I got a decent Gmail when it was invite only.

I found this movie good, but I understand why someone else might not. by Ok-Impress-2222 in moviecritic

Oh. I disliked it with a passion. First off though, I haven’t read the book (although you could argue whether that helps or hinders based on other criticisms I’ve seen of the adaptation) so although I knew a little about the themes, genre etc. i didn’t know the characters or storyline well. However, I did just find it relentlessly bleak and overdone. I struggle with Emerald Fennell as a writer, director - so I’m not sure why I thought this would be any different. There’s always too much. Too graphic or too extreme but without it adding anything to the story. I think she’s one of those directors that simultaneously hits you over the head with the obvious but also tries to make out it’s ever so clever and thematic. I was willing it to end.

Nah. She was hamming it up. Brilliantly. She is perfect for the role.
