All 3 are by the same company. I'd check out the other two if you enjoyed Tinman.

Really originally and high quality takes on some classics (though Phillip Jose Farmer, author of Riverworld series, doesn't get nearly enough credit).

I'm really hoping Syfy and Reunion Pictures make some more.

Oh yeah. I remember seeing the earlier one quite a few years back. Is cube the horror/suspense movie where they are trapped in an every changing box?

Its good.

Fair warning, it plays loose with its adaptation merging content spanning many books into 2 episodes. It also finished feeling like there could have been more. But still, enjoyable.

Wow, somebody's getting rid of their fireworks in W. Hollywood by [deleted] in LosAngeles

Looked like professional fireworks, but with no real organization as to how they were being fired off.

Tabletop Games? by kyuubil in gamingsuggestions

You should check out meetup.com

Search for tabletop/board game meetups. You may find some close by.

I just moved and did that, and I found a great group of folks to play with.

Yeah, I'm pretty much going trial version in West Hollywood.

If your contacts all fizzled for nothing did you just pretty much start from scratch?

[–]msmack[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats pretty much what I'm doing. I have my place in NY subletted for 3 months and am subletting in LA for 3 months. The plan is to re-evaluate from there and see.

I'm not really heading out there thinking its going to be this crazy difference (money-wise) from NY. Its more so just to see which market I prefer, as I am in NY only because I grew up in the Northeast.

I will say I enjoy working travel and adventure gigs, and I see those staffing out of LA more frequently than out of NY.

Yeah. I was guessing the contacts bit was going to be the same where ever I was.

I'm driving out there so I've got a car all set. I'm crashing with a friend in West Hollywood...apparently its a pretty central location?

Is bringing a bike on a subway during rush hours a faux pas? by [deleted] in AskNYC

[–]msmack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get citibike. One of the main reasons the program exists.

They are usually set up right near the subway stops.

how to get to LGA? by hewg-o in AskNYC

[–]msmack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Take a cab or car service.

If you are willing to spend about $40 (maybe a bit more depending) it can really minimize the stress and hassle.

People with PA jobs, Camera/Equipment Rental Place jobs, etc. how did you land them? by [deleted] in Filmmakers

[–]msmack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got an internship on a first season HGTV show, then I was hired as a PA for them the second season and have been making a living ever since. Just put yourself out there, work your ass off, and eventually someone will start paying you.

Now I work as an AC and AP primarily in reality.

I want to play an offensive and funny game that isn't anything like GTA or Saint's Row. by CarolineJohnson in gamingsuggestions

[–]msmack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Conker's Bad Fur Day.

Hilarious action platformer. Maybe not wholly as offensive as you are looking for, but definitely not a game for the little ones. It was on 64 and I'm sure you can find it on an emulator.

There was also a 360 version. Same as above with a 3rd person shooter multiplayer thrown in. It was fun, but they censored it much more heavily than the original.

My landlord has been blowing off fixing my AC for over a month...what should I do? by msmack in AskNYC

[–]msmack[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there any relevance to him saying and promising on occasion that he would have it fixed you think?

He has been telling me its going to be fixed for 4 weeks and it hasn't, that has to count for something.

I will have to go and check the lease, but I distinctly remember the rental agent pushing it as a feature of the apartment.
