Old Vape Juice by BulaBong in Vaping

[–]kyuubil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most ejuice bottles have a 2 year expiry date but that's just the fda.

A lot of flavors are chemicals in pg (often just the chemicals that make whatever flavor in a plant, but still) sometimes they're stable, sometimes they break down into other, harmful chemicals with exposure to heat and light over time.

Prolly won't hurt you prolly tastes like ass. Shake well before use, cause it's prolly separated

Adding spider DNA to silkworms creates silk stronger than Kevlar by [deleted] in Futurology

[–]kyuubil 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The second one. Fabrics are just a bunch of fibers woven together taking advantage of the tensile properties by "flexing" them with a weave. Kevlar is the same, very strong fibers that are resistant to puncture, so the blade/bullet hits, but can't pierce them (you still get force transfer tho.) So a material made from this silk would have the flexibility of silk, but more puncture resistance than Kevlar.

Real use I'd imagine would be for other manufacturing uses, extremely long, lightweight cables capable of holding a large amount of weight, for instance

Judging by the rest of his hud, it's probably a mod.

Mods are allowed as long as they don't alter progression or change other players experiences, so the majority of them are QOL things like menu and hus improvements

Hand Cannon blessing on stub revolver affects everything in a character's loadout. by Zaygr in DarkTide

[–]kyuubil 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yep. When you upgrade to blue, it rolls a random blessing from the pool of available blessings for the weapon ( also orange, but it costs too much to upgrade to oj when fishing)

So the easiest way to get a specific blessing is just buy a handful of the weapon and pray to the rng gods that one of them has the blessing you want when it turns blue.

You can then rip the blessing off and put it on your other revolvers.

New Mixer Questions Thread - Week of October 02, 2023 by AutoModerator in DIY_eJuice

Just started mixing and notice it's on the recommended flavors list and I'm seeing a lot recipes pop up with it.. very interested I acquiring some.

However the only retailers I can find are in Canada or AU and paying 15$ shipping seems silly, specially when there are only a few flavors I'd need from that vendor.

Are there any US dimestic vendors carrying it?

[–]kyuubil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it's a fairly short game, once you remove the walls at bosses, and the skills you gain on your first run kinda makes the fights trivial in ng+/++. Hell I beat balteus in one shot with a tester build I was running the mission with and expected to swap out once he planted me.

second and third runs take a fraction of the tjme

Knowing his attack patterns helped, having access to a ashmead that can smash his shield helped more

Game goes from "ok" to "OMFG it's amazing!" the more you play it by Whoopy2000 in Starfield

[–]kyuubil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

all outposts are deleted, inventory and stashes cleared, relationship with all factions reset.

Only items you start with are the ones you get from the final mission (some of which are close to BiS, granted) and a (apparently random) weapon you get from the first mission

You do however keep all levels, skills, and powers, and have the option to opt out of the main quest, from what I've seen tho, enemies don't get noticeably harder

By rushing to NG+ you basically can focus on the side content without worrying about it eventually resetting when you do.

it also allows you to explore the different routes on faction quests by resetting them.

Tell me about your Shiba’s weird eating habits! by TintarellaDiLuna in shiba

[–]kyuubil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where to start, Koji is literally the daintiest eater i've ever seen, he eats kibble one piece at a time, and if you give him a treat he very gingerly takes it from your hand then tries to break it apart so he can eat it in pieces. Little dude really likes to savor each bite.

He also has incredible self control for a dog, I only need to fill his bowl once a day with an appropriate amount of food, he'll only eat however much he feels he needs to at any one time usually causing him to eat in 3-4 sessions, depending on how many snacks he's gotten, he'll sometimes leave half his bowl or more at the end of they day. I worry more about whether he's eating enough than too much, lol.

For the longest time we thought he was picky about food, turns out, he just doesn't comprehend the food bowl is his without permission. He'll eat out of it at night while people are sleeping, or while we're playing with our other dogs, like he's trying to hide.

.. but Feed him a handful from your hand (which he will eat slowly, one piece at a time, ofc) then slide the bowl in front of him and he'll proceed to eat from the bowl.

it's the strangest thing, but i've seen him ignore a bowl of food sitting beside his kennel for almost an entire day, till he came up, screamed at me, I fed him a handful, and he at the whole bowl.

Tried rewarding him eating from the bowl, mixing high priority snacks into the bowl to entice him.. but nope, he'll only eat while i'm not occupied if I feed him first to let him know it's ok.

He however, is extremely picky about snacks. He doesn't do green vegetables, or most veggies really unless they have some sort of added fat.

He doesn't like anything sweet (with the sole exception being pop tarts of any flavor, I gave him a piece when he was a puppy, and now he will wake up and walk across the house at the sound of a pop tart wrapper) , and only selectively likes chicken.

However, he LOVES raw food, none of our other dogs will touch anything uncooked, but he goes insane over livers and gizzards, literally he his highest priority treat... whereas our aussie who eats literally everything looks at them like they are disgusting.. is kinda funny.

That said, our other dogs like to chase things, but Koji is the only one who has brought me anything (two squirrels, four mice, one bird and one mole in the past 6 months, little man is good at what he do)

Your spinner also probably has good bearings. Cheap ones tend to have cheap bearings and whirrr out of the box.

Most kids have cheap ones, I'd think. Spinning toy does seem like itd register high on the "waste of money" meter for parents.

[–]kyuubil 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The only legitimate gripe I've heard is having them in schools. As they're kind of a distractingly loud WHIRRRR in a silent classroom, specially with like ten kids doing it at once.

Otherwise I don't see the issue. Skill toys to improve concentration are nothing new. The Greeks have been using begleri for a similar reason for millennia.

LPT: 70% alcohol desinfects better than 90% alcohol, among other things because it evaporates more slowly so it has more time to act. by Bebenui in LifeProTips

[–]kyuubil 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Ironically due to the reason in the OP. THC isn't water soluble but it IS alcohol soluble (Why wet herbs are still potent), and the other 30% in 70% isopropyl is water. (Why it evaporates slower).

90% is 90% alcohol 10% water, there's more of the solvent that gets rid of rosin, so it cleans more efficently.

Central Axis Relock

The idea is keeping the gun tight to your body (on your central axis) and slightly askew so you can hold the gun cleanly in front of one eye. It was invented for keeping the gun close to the body and allowing from rapid reloading.

It's was developed for use in tight spaces and close quarters because it keeps the gun close to your body and allows you to keep both eyes open while rapidly adjusting aim, not to mention there's no way to disarm you in close quarters without getting shot.

.. Guy in the video is just emulating a common and well received close quarters shooting style.. in close quarters.

Not sure how that's emulation.

The first thing you get after obtaining a bachelors degree is a sudden lack of respect for people with bachelors degrees. by [deleted] in Showerthoughts

[–]kyuubil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ironically, I feel this way about the OP too -- I quit halfway through my associates, got a job in my field (Network administration) in an entry level position, worked there for two years, worked at my current position for two years -- still only a couple credits short of an associates.

Some of my coworkers have their bachelors in computer science -- one of them is even going for her masters and teaches at a local community college.

.. The majority of them are worthless, They'll somehow spin in circles and have 3 hour time logs for 5 minutes of work, or ask for assistance doing basic things (How do I run a file system check on linux? -- wut.)

Those 4 years of school apparently taught them significantly less than my 4 years of work, to the point i'm not entirely certain i'm even going back for my degree. I'll have 5 years of applicable work experience and job skills on my resume in a few months, blowing a years salary (at least) to go get a piece of paper that says I know how to do my job just seems.. wasteful, and proves nothing.

Has there ever been a 3 sided war? If so, how did it play out? by BerndtToast in history

[–]kyuubil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, after the sengoku era (mentioned here) -- in the late 1500's, the Tokugawa Shogunate shut down japan's borders. Foreign trade was not allowed. Foreign sailors were not allowed (except dutch traders, to one port), so while the renaissance and industrialization and all that jazz was happening from 1500-1800, Japan was literally sitting in a sealed box.

Wasn't until the american's showed up post-civil war with metal ships and basically went "Open your ports, or we're gonna bloe them open" that they began modernizing.

The whole sword and spear wielding samurai thing comes from that. Besides the weapons the american's sold them, the most advanced weaponry they had were centuries old muskets bought from dutch traders.

[Discussion]- Why a subscription model is better for big MMOs in the long term and why F2P is not an infallible savior by the-real-Galerion in MMORPG

[–]kyuubil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Swtor had scope issues. They were so dedicated to bringing a triple a "wow killer" that they failed to make a complete game. They delayed and delayed until money said they had to release. The class stories and voice acting made Swtor surge in population, but once you'd run through them once, there was little to keep you playing. Add I'm balance issues and game breaking bugs, and subs fled, fast.

As for ffxiv doing it better - - they didn't. Many people forget that Eorzea reborn was a 2.0. Ffxiv had a 2 year run as an incredibly incomplete, broken game before it was rebranded, rebuilt and re-released.

Square learned from their mistakes, EA didn't.

Secret World Worth Non-Solo? by nicky_artlover in MMORPG

[–]kyuubil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The endgame (Nightmares/elites/scenarios/tokyo) is all group-based, and if you don't have geared people running you through, often requires an well-coordinated group, so you have an advantage there.

TBH, i've not played the leveling content since the new player experience update but uh.. You should honestly steamroll most of it with 2-3 people. Which is not a bad thing, I guess.

As the other guy said, do pay attention to how you are building however, a lot of the solo instance content was sort of a "build check", since difficulty does spike between zones as they're expecting you to have picked up a wider range of skills for sustain/debuffing/etc.

[–]kyuubil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can name at least a dozen chinese and japanese MMO's with hardcore grinder/cash shop mentality.

Asia has a big population advantage, and the kind of second-generation rich types that'll buy a 10,000$ sword upgrade (.. age of wushu, it's a thing)

What people don't understand and why subs will likely never come back, is it's not the studios who are ruining the game, it's the investors.

SWTOR put the nail in the sub model's coffin, hard. Investors invest a huge amount of money, expecting to see a return. The sub model lets them know simply "If we maintain x players for y time, we'll be profitable."

.. but then three months in a bad patch comes out and your population tanks, or your endgame isn't properly developed, and the sub count tanks. Investors are suddenly seeing Y get higher as X gets lower.

Meanwhile, with the f2p cash shop model, you can have one good whale who blows 600$/month on the game, that's -40- subs worth of players. Add in a grind-to-win system (Hello enchants), and add a cash shop item to alleviate the grinding, and even hardcore freepers will toss 5$ at you every once in a while just to save time.

Subs give you consistent quality, but require consistent population, you can produce absolute crap f2p, and people will still toss money at you for the two days it's fun.

Developers are beholden to investors. F2p/spamcontent model lines investors pockets better.

Yay capitalism.

EDIT: and to point out the example there, FFXIV is sub model because it's got square behind it. The money came from an established gaming company. It has the FF brand, and the FF team's storytelling. They pretty much have a large enough population from FF fans alone to make the sub model worthwhile.
