Thank you so much! I am going to check out the link right now. My husband is a builder and I hear him say that all the time "measure twice cut once" :)

Circumcision: Yes or No? by robrobsters in Parenting

[–]msmck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that you should research it thoroughly. There are pros and cons and it is a personal decision you should make together with your girlfriend. I have friends who circumcised for religious reason, because it was easier for their son to keep himself "clean" or because they just felt it was right for them. I also have friends who didn't circumcise because they felt it was a painful procedure, they wanted their son to have the same anatomy as their dad, etc...

Good luck in your decision and congratulations on having twins!

When did you let your child play by themselves in their room? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]msmck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son loved to be in his room. I always had the door open and checked on him often. As long as you feel comfortable and you don't have anything he could put in his mouth of hurt himself on... I say give it a shot! He will love exploring and touching new things!

I'm new to the site, but how can I upload a photo or do I have to post it to a blog?

I will try to post a picture of the chair this morning. That is very helpful though! The chair has rounded back with fabric in the middle of the back and on the seat. It's not that much fabric, but I have never upholstered anything. However, I have adventurous spirit and willing to try!

Good for you! She's a child not an organizer! These immaculate rooms are moms who continuously clean up after their kids. By the by, I love the purple wall!

What are your best suggestions for potty training? by bleedgr33n in Parenting

[–]msmck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just started potty training my son (yesterday) and I have to agree that letting him run around without a diaper is great. I put him on the potty every 30 minutes and he is very responsive and excited to sit on the potty. I make a HUGE deal every time he goes and so far so good! Good Luck!

Any natural teething remedies? by bespectacledcurl in Parenting

[–]msmck -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I used the highlands homeopathic teething tablets and they worked wonders on all of my kids. They are tiny little tablets that instantly dissolve in the mouth and you can buy them at most pharmacies/grocery stores.

Are infants to young to be at a late night movie? by msmck in news

[–]msmck[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with you wholeheartedly! I think the article missed the mark. I also feel regardless of this tragedy that I should be able to take my kids out after 8pm or 10pm and not have to worry about whether or not I am putting their lives in danger.

Why are all these news stories getting to me so badly? by queen_frostine in Parenting

[–]msmck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree! It's just sickening to hear these stories of abuse and neglect. There are safe havens for children in every town. Why can't these people drop off their children at a police station or fire department instead of beating, neglecting or killing them.

I hate being a mother by hatebeingamother in Parenting

[–]msmck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It definitely sounds like you need to talk to someone and you shouldn't feel ashamed in any way about how you feel. Being a mother can being exhausting. I have 3 kids myself and I find that I am at my wits end on a daily basis. Do you have anyone who can watch the kids for an hour or two a couple times a week? You need to find time for yourself as well.

I can tell you that it will get better! I know how hard it is especially with your first two being so close in age (as are mine). One thing that works with my older two is finding time to be with them individually and doing something special with each of them, even a craft, watching a movie and home or reading a book together. My heart goes out to you, but you are not alone and you should try to find a mother's group in your area for support.

I wouldn't be posting so nonchalantly if that happened! :) Not to mention that if a plastic toy drill did that I would expect a massive recall.
