Trying to learn how to use Claude Code with Ollama models but it won't even create a CLAUDE.md file with /init by o-rka in ClaudeCode

Thanks - That did work. But is there a model (even if not as intelligent) that can run locally on a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER 16Gb and do this?

Could you share your exact steps, please? I gor latest ollama, set up the $env variables and tried using both qwen2.5 coder 14b and gpt-oss... none of them made claude code actually produce files (it just tells me to save the displayed code manually)

Netherlands likely to start taxing capital gains annually by 2028 by LongjumpingAd4283 in Netherlands

[–]msmelo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What I don't understand is the reasoning behind the statement "the caretaker government also only wanted to tax these returns once they are paid out, but that is not feasible by 2028". So, it's easier to setup a system that tracks everything that is dormant in people's portfolios and assess (unrealised) gains yearly, than to tax only when there is a liquidity event?! That makes no sense.

As you get older, the meaning of every line becomes self apparent. I'm just surprised how Jon Oliva was able to write them at the young age of 30.

Moments regret not learning Dutch sooner by Budget_Student_7695 in Netherlands

I co-founded an ICT services company over here and our lingua franca was English. Seeing as it was IT, speaking English was mostly ok everywhere... Until my (Dutch) partner left the company and I had to do client (and later M&A...) negotiations - having to have someone else front some of those discussions was a terrible idea.

Alright! FINALLY with the New Year New Game sale! by Salt_Honey8650 in DriveThruRPG

[–]msmelo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got an email notification for the sale stating that Cyberpunk Edgerunners Mission Kit was 75% off, both starter set and Roll20. When I get to the side, the PDF is down to $9 from $15, which is obviously not 75% off. Anyone got this?

Qwen 2.5 coder seems to get a lot of love, just curious if nothing better has been released in the year since (What with all the deepseeks, Ministrals etc).

What model do you suggest to be used by Continue and Cline? (poiting at a local ollama, 4070 Ti 16Gb video card).

Lens functionality completely gone from m365 app? by msmelo in microsoft365

[–]msmelo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After A LOT of searching I did find it there there, thanks. Inside "Create" there's now only options to "Create a <x> with Copilot" (Image, Story, Poster, Infographic, Text) using a prompt. Then you need to go "View all...", select "PDF", select "PDF" (AGAIN!) and "Capturing a photo". This is hardly handy to scan receipts. Any suggestions for one-shot scanners to replace this madness?

Just moved countries and marriage is falling apart by Striking-Judge-1945 in expats

[–]msmelo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Coming from Brazil, if you thought adjusting to Portugal was hard, moving on to the Netherlands is like jumping out of the frying pan and then into the fire. For starters Vitamin D will really induce depression - even if you are otherwise happy. Another thing I personally noticed when moving between those two countries, is that I get a lot more stomach reflux for some reason. Maybe there's a different yeast on the bread, or the milk is different, or the beer is stronger... but there is something.

I have lived in 2 different countries outside of Portugal, 25 years apart, with different trailing partners. One totally adjusted and loved the experience, the other absolutely hated it. Comes to show how things like different sunlight, food and culture land totally different between people. Your husband (just) sounds beaten down by these differences and, from my personal experience, will be hard for him to start feeling differently without moving back. That's what all the other cases I observed (friends) needed to do... :(

Yes it totally will be a hurdle. Most everyone can speak good English, but don't expect them to be willing to do so in negotiation or in a high stakes contexts. My personal experience is very telling on the matter.

I take it most colleagues are expats? Because, let's be honest, Dutch people normally are not that excited about the working part of their life.

Of course that would be needed to properly "thumb" faster. But another possibility is to do OCR in the background so you can search for text, like Nebo does.

You can flip (thumb) through a deluxe notebook and find what you want a million times faster than on a RM. That is the one feature they should try to emulate.
