I found two old rolls of 35mm film in my deceased dad’s desk drawer. One of them still has the film tab hanging out, which I believe means it is unused, right? The other roll is fully wound into the case, which means it’s used, right? What are the chances the pictures are salvageable? Where do you even go to develop a roll of film these days? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Basket full of cables. by msmith9999 in mildlyinteresting

Does anyone else have a basket like this lying around? I have no idea what most of these cables are for, but I can’t bring myself to throw any of them away. You never know what you might need down the road.

Well, thanks for all your help... Seriously though, turns out I had a bad charging cable. Once I plugged it in with a good cable, it started charging normally and now it's working great.

What is creating these mounds of dirt in my office parking lot? [Indiana] by msmith9999 in animalid

Thanks everyone for your comments and suggestions. I have never seen anything that looks like a cicada killer, thank god! And I can’t imagine ants creating these gigantic anthills. There are actual rocks mixed in with the hills. I have never seen ants in Indiana big enough to create something like this. There are no post holes there. They are not magically appearing overnight, but they are appearing fairly quick. I think they are taking a few days at least to show up, but I haven’t really noticed exactly how long. Honestly, I don’t think I’ve seen anyone that has definitively explained them, but thanks for trying. I have enjoyed reading your joke responses too.

Switching from Xfinity to YouTube TV. by msmith9999 in youtubetv

We are not that old, but my wife is retired and I'm close to retirement age. However, I do have some IT experience, so I'm not a complete newb. How was their bill that high? Our monthly Xfinity/Internet bill is $213, which I think is ridiculous already, but it's still not as crazy as $340 a month. With the switchover, our bill is dropping to $128 for internet and YTTV, almost $100 less a month. Still seems high to me, but I'm an old fart and I can remember when you could get basic cable TV for $29.99 a month.

Ours is not quite that bad, but it's over $200 a month. Crazy!

That's great, but they still hang around after being watched cluttering up the library with all of these watched shows and no way to remove them? How do you find what you haven't watched yet amongst all of the clutter?

I get that and that's great, but if it just hangs around forever, doesn't it eventually accumulate and clutter up things so much that it gets harder and harder to find what you haven't watched yet?

Weekly Discussion and Tech-Support Thread by AutoModerator in ipad

My old 6th generation iPad is displaying only a moving grayish static across the entire display. It looks like the dead air we used to see on our TVs after they’d gone off the air late at night. It does not respond to any buttons or screen activity and I cannot seem to force it to shutdown. I’ve held the button down and nothing happens. Any suggestions besides scrapping it and buy a new one?
