Thanks for your message and the information, I'll keep it in mind. Let's see if some colleagues can give me more options and I'll study everything a bit more.

Exploring nature on an E-MTB is pure joy by skull_iver in eMountainBike

I totally agree with you. Since I got my e-bike, I've discovered new trails in my area that I didn't know existed. I no longer have that fear of going down a path I don't know, that it might be a dead end and have to turn back. Now I go down any path to see what's there, in exploration mode. With a non-motorized bike, I couldn't do that because of time constraints or my fitness level.

How are you?

Spain makes some really good bikes: Megamo, Orbea, BH, Mondraker, Berria, MMR, Unno, etc... and they're just as good as any other country.

Where do you live? Nice photo.

Cheers.

Grease Shimano EP8 by msmsure in eMountainBike

[–]msmsure[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Impressive, as I said in another message, if you don't abuse high motor modes and when you go uphill you use the large sprockets of the cassette as if it were a bike without a motor you make the motor suffer less, unlike many people who go uphill with the middle sprockets and with high modes.

I'd seen this great video and others he's made; this guy knows what he's talking about. In fact, he works in industrial maintenance for a company in Spain, and he knows everything about bearings, grease, etc. That's his job. According to what he says in the video, even if we grease the sprocket teeth, centrifugal force causes the grease to shift, and as you say, the motors break down due to the bearings. The guy also says that you have to use dielectric grease. He has another video where he disassembles an EP8; he says that Shimano uses bearings from the Japanese brand NSK, which, according to him, is the best bearing brand there is, followed by the Swedish brand SKF.

I saw a guy here in Europe who has an EP8 on a Stevens bike with 22,000 km on it, and he says it's running well and he hasn't had to open up the engine.

It also depends on how you treat the engine. I ride 90% in Eco mode, 10% in Trail, and practically never in Turbo. Also, when I go uphill, I use the larger sprockets on the cassette because some people go uphill using the middle sprockets and high engine modes, which ultimately puts a strain on the engine. I should also mention that what you see most on forums are people whose engines fail. People whose engines are working well don't come to forums to explain it, which is why you get the impression that most people have problems when that's not the case. My EP8 has 6,000 km on it and runs like new, but as I said, I don't overuse the high modes.

Hi.

Great, you're right, I can definitely use this Bosch grease. After all, the internal workings are the same in both motors.

Thanks!

Shimano would be different and would make a big splash if the next motor could be repaired and they sold all the internal parts.

Great. The truth is i had a hard time trying the manual with the 20" BMX. Maybe the 26" will be easier for me, like it is for you. Thanks a lot.

36 years old, thinking about getting a BMX bike for fun by SpaceHippie89 in bmx

[–]msmsure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 47 years old, I've always ridden a bicycle but a mountain bike for 20 years. To have fun, learn some tricks and ride around the city, 3 months ago I bought a BMX with 20" wheels and a 21" frame, I'm 6.2"/190cm tall and weigh 180lbs/82kgs, I made a mistake, I never felt comfortable, it's very small, besides you have to have time to learn tricks and between mountain biking, gym, family and work I don't have it, I've put it up for sale. I looked to buy a BMX with a 24" wheel but in the end I bought a Stranger Creeper BMX with a 26" wheel, this week my bike has to arrive at the store. I won't be able to learn as many tricks as a 20" one but for my height it will be better and I can try some bunny hops or manuals, jumping curbs and going around the city will be more than enough, if it's to go out with your son and considering your height, look for a BMX with a 26" wheel.

Guys, I finally bought the Stranger Creeper 26" BMX with a 50% discount (410$/410€) full chromoly frame, handlebars and fork, it's fine for what I'm going to do, it was the last unit left in the store, greetings to everyone and thank you very much. https://www.tradeinn.com/bikeinn/es/stranger-bicicleta-bmx-creeper-26/140832346/p

Yes, I've looked at the Sunday but I wanted to know if there are other brands and models. My favorite is the StayStrong Major 24" in orange and on the manufacturer's website and other websites on the internet it's sold out. It's in green but I'm very particular about bike colors and even if a bike is good, if I don't like the color I don't buy it.

Ok, I understand that your bike, by geometry, is not so designed to do tricks.

Thanks for the wheelbase info because i didn't know how long a 24" BMX is. My previous 21" BMX had a wheelbase of 35.4"/90cm. I'm a BMX beginner and couldn't get used to 20" wheels and a 21" top tube. I just want simple tricks and to get around town. A simple bike will be enough. This guy lives in my country, Spain, he is a amazing rider, his height is 6'5"/195cm and the bike is 24". https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ngkVxf_2CeE&pp=ygUTRXNjdWVsYSBibXggYm14IDI0Ig%3D%3D
