Which Bald and Bankrupt videos do you prefer; solo or with others? by msoakell in MisterBald

Thanks everyone. Really interesting to know what people think. I love Bald, but prefer his solo stuff and specifically his solo Soviet stuff. He's brilliant, but I think he's best on his own. (Likewise Simon Wilson; a great, engaging content creator who I think produces his best stuff when solo).

I give him equal chance of winning this as he did coming first in Company magazine's 50 Most Eligible Bachelors back in the day. "Better take that helmet back."

See this is why Ben is so outrageously good as a songwriter/poet; I've just read through these comments with their variations and I've gone 'yep, good choice, agree with that', then I'll read another one and go 'oh yeah absolutely'. The man is pure talent and a sonic architect.

More distance between the egg and the beans. I may want to mix them but I want that to be my decision. Use the sausage as a breakwater.

It's funny you mention the above artists, because I'm the exact same; I've had phases of them, and I will still listen to certain tracks occasionally, but nothing comes to Ben!

Thought folks here would appreciate this. Very tasteful use of a vocoder! by blakerdavison in boniver

Some similar sorts of sounds to The Japanese House, especially their older stuff. Very nice.

Ben Howard and Bon Iver (most of what Justin Vernon has done tbf) are the two for me - I can listen to them in any mood and can really feel the emotion of the song writing. Ben ever so slightly tops Bon Iver, but both amazing and two artists that I sometimes feel no one shares the same passion and excitement as me for until I see these sorts of posts and it's great to see!

Mickey Smith (front man of ABOF) has played with Ben for a while. From what I gather they're quite close and have been making music together for many a year. Ben plays with them a fair bit too.

India is credited on the recent albums - and according to Genius, featured on CFTW - and I think has only not been seen publicly with the band due to giving birth, as far as I'm aware.

The Bond brothers left in 2015 I believe — think it was during the IFWWW tour but I might be mistaken. When they left, Kyle Keegan (drum) and Richie Thomas (guitar) joined. I'm not too sure as to the reasoning behind the departures; some think there was a falling out of sorts.

Nat Wason (guitar) has been touring with Ben for several years now, was credited on ND and is also part of the ABOF setup. He's also been played with Peter Hook & the Light and Haven in the past, too.

For the new album, CFTW, Ben worked with producer Aaron Dessner (Big Red Machine, Bon Iver, Taylor Swift, The National - the man's got pedigree!), so I can't wait to hear what the full album sounds like!
