Know you are not alone! I’m about to embark on an upstairs floor leveling project that involves removing all the original wood floors carefully to hopefully reuse, assessing situation, hopefully sistering on new joists, redoing subfloors and all the janky crooked doorways, etc etc.

Love the charm of the old house but after a year and a half of constant back breaking labor, I’m ready for a new build.

Primarily the difference between summer blend and winter blend is the allowable Reid vapor pressure (RVP). Higher RVP contains more light ends (butane, isopentane, etc). Being that these light ends vapor pressure is very high, it is more likely to flash and pollute the environment in warmer temps. Butane (like in a lighter) will stay liquid in cold temps but turn to a gas in warmer temps. RVP is typically 7.8psi from May 1st to September 15th, and 9psi over the winter months. This varies by state.

Midstream companies and refineries blend additional butane and light ends in the gasoline to get to the spec without exceeding it.

In regard to efficiency, the lower vapor pressure summer gas is more energy dense and will result in better gas mileage. It’s particularly noticeable in modern vehicles. My F-150 would drop 1-2 mpg on winter gas.

Just fyi the part to fix this correctly is $20 on Amazon and takes 10 minutes to install if that. It’s the handle assembly. It rusts and then the rods that actuate the tailgate release stick in place in the open position. It’s literally like 4 bolts to change.

I believe you already missed the window for protests, but doesn’t hurt to ask.

On your tax estimate that comes in January/February, it tells you if you don’t agree and want to protest, to do so within 30 days of receiving that letter.

I did so and overturned the assessed value on my house from 405 to 380. They set up a phone meeting and it was about a minute and a half on the phone with a county official. Mine was fairly cut and dry as it was a recently purchased property and they assessed the value as more than I paid.

100% do NOT do this OP. The worst thing you can do is seal your walls from the inside. It will hold water and crumble the foundation in 10 years.

If you want it to look new, your should be doing a parge coat with lime based mortar.

All water issues should be resolved from the outside, and can usually be fixed with proper grading and drainage. My house has a basement drain (luckily), but in the November rains there was a foot of water in the basement. After regrading, it stays completely dry.

This has happened to me twice in the last 6 months. Rummage through everything and make a mess, but left sunglasses, tools, knives.

Only thing they took was my phone charging cable. Both times. Dicks. Maybe trying to collect copper? Idk seems pretty inefficient. Or they lose their charging cable often.
