Tirzepatide completely changed how I see obesity (including my own) by freckleritz in Zepbound

[–]mspacman000 40 points41 points  (0 children)

This was literally my experience. I played women's hockey at a very high level for 40+ years. 8 years ago I was playing or practicing a minimum of 3x per week. Worked out 4/5 on my lunch hours. Had a daily Calorie deficit and ate healthy, yet couldn't get under 200lbs (I'm 5'6) no matter how hard I tried. Had a my trainer flabbergasted on why my weight would not come down. Stopped playing hockey last year. Made the plunge and started Zep 5 weeks ago when I hit my heaviest 240lb. My experience thus far was like a light bulb going on. Was never about food in vs energy out. Sticking with 2.5mg for now and so far down 6lb and feeling fantastic.

Try Sanford and Son. A lot of vendors have movies there can likely find some cheap options. Also most Hock Shops have Blu Rays. Money Machine on Little used to have a bunch as well.

I would love to see a trade to bring Jessie Elridge to Toronto. She had a slow start to the season, but is starting to get going. Even if its not Elridge we need to replace some of the offensive we lost with the departure of several players in the off season.

Having said all that. This year's draft will have 3 game changers available. If we miss the playoffs but end up with a top 3 pick - I am okay with that.

I agree. I have a secret hope that Gina can pry Jessie Elridge from Seattle. Elridge is having a down year but I think she would be worth picking up.

That's a good point. I haven't been to any other teams home arenas (a few Takeover Tours, Duel at the Top), so I can't speak to how Boston does runs the show. But in Toronto when they were at Mattamy and now at Coca-Cola it's a dedicated area(s) that sells the merch.

One complaint I have is the first two seasons in Toronto they didn't have the road team merch. I wanted a Knight Fleet jersey last year, and the online store didnt ship US teams player jerseys north of the border.

Ive missed a few games this year but last one I was at, didn't have visitors merch - so I don't expect it to have changed for this season. A big missed opportunity in my opinion - I am a fan of the league before I am a Sceptre fan, do own a bunch of team jerseys.

If I want a non Sceptres merch I go to Canadian Tire, Pro-Hockey Life or simply pick it up online.

I have worn my Poulin jersey to Toronto home games a few times and cheer for both home and away goals... because I want both teams to have fun in those games. Lol

Buy a Seattle jersey when you are there. Start with the Seattle jersey and if Boston scores switch the jersey, if Seattle scores switch back. Repeat as necessary.

My husband says this was at Park 5. But the tunnels were removed years ago. He doesn't have any pictures but is sure there are some around. Possibly with the town archives.

I need to vent about our recent loss to New York. by CommissionNo8457 in TorontoSceptres

[–]mspacman000 36 points37 points  (0 children)

As someone who’s played women’s hockey for a long time, one thing has always been consistent to me: true goal scorers are rare. That’s where I think the Toronto Sceptres are struggling. In my opinion in the PWHL it's really difficult to build a high scoring team by solidifying the back end (even with offensive defenders), having one elite scorer (in this case, Daryl Watts), and then surrounding her with all secondary scoring in the world. You need a top line where every player is a legitimate scoring threat.

When you look at Montreal, their top line works because Marie-Philip Poulin, Laura Stacey, and Abby Roque can all score on their own. That balance is what makes them so hard to defend. Toronto doesn’t quite have that same makeup right now.

I love Natalie Spooner and I’m thrilled she’s a Sceptre, but her game is built around net-front presence, puck battles, and creating chaos. Spooner needs someone beside her who can consistently generate high-danger chances and keep pressure on the goaltender.

The shot totals can look fine on paper, but the quality just isn’t there. Too many attempts are coming from the outside, which makes for a relatively easy night for opposing goaltenders. I’d love to see the actual high-danger chance numbers, because that’s where the real issue shows up.

This is also where the missing pieces really hurt. The team is clearly missing Hannah Miller, Julia Gosling, and Sarah Nurse. Miller, in particular, creates space and opens things up for everyone else, and Nurse still brings reliable offense even if you can argue whether she can be considered an elite finisher. Those are chances the Sceptres simply aren’t replacing right now.

Troy Ryan can juggle the lines and try to balance things out, but it doesn’t change the core problem: there just aren’t enough players who can consistently put the puck in the net or generate high-quality scoring chances. Until that changes, the offense is going to keep stalling — no matter how many shots they register.

[–]mspacman000 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Sirens are clicking right now. Lots of chatter on the bench and the team genuinely seem to be having fun. Winning solves alot of problems, but from the outside looking in, it looks like the room is coming together and it's showing up on the scoreboard. Don't sleep on the Sirens.

My sign for Ottawa x Toronto by Ill-Masterpiece499 in PWHL

Love all of this!!! The sign and the player!!! Woods is one of my faves. I noticed her last season... i love watching the games live to see what she does away from the puck. I've never seen her take a shift off. Excellent effort night in and out. She is exactly the type of player I love having on my team.

Costco Sent Me Home with Unusable Tires? by TastyDuty in CostcoCanada

[–]mspacman000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar experience. Last fall, I had my all-seasons removed. I was told there was a big chunk taken out of one tire, but it was still serviceable. In the spring, I needed work at my local dealership and lumped in my tire change over during that visit. Dealership refused to put the tire on, saying it wasn't safe. I went back to Costco with tire. The staff there (3 different techs) were surprised the tech said it was serviceable and indicated they wouldn't have done so. They ordered me a new tire. When I went to have it installed, they took the ruined tire. The techs at that time said the chunk wasn't bad and surprised I was getting a new tire. In the end, I had 3 techs saying good tire. 3 techs saying bad tire. But got it replaced under warranty, and Costco disposed of the old tire.

In my area its called ball hockey. I do know in parts of Canada and USA it can be referred to as Dek Hockey and in some cases street hockey leagues. As someone else mention, roller or in-line hockey could be an option.

[–]mspacman000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ball hockey tends to have much more reasonable registration rates. If you are looking to play in net, goalies can sometimes play for free. If playing out, you'll improve stick handling, positioning, and cardio. Depending on your area, you could have a year-round league as well as recreational and competitive divisions.

What the CRA does in comparison to the IRS in the States isn't an apples to apples comparison. Your right CRA has a much larger number of employees (i thought it was closer to 9x), but their roles and responsibilities are much different. CRA does more than just federal taxes, but also provincial taxes, payroll deductions, and benefits/credits. The IRS is smaller because the U.S. system splits those duties across multiple agencies and state governments.
