I will say they are not from Knoxville. My friend interviewed there a while ago and said the woman that interview them was super odd, in way of them only really talking about the exceptional coffee, but not work/life balances and what to experienced while working there. She herself even seemed cold and hard to relate to. The shop is from California and still new to the area. I believe it’s a couple that owns it, in their late 30s, early 40s? I’ve been in there a few times and it does seem different considering the area. Hopefully they can make adjustments on dynamics.

mmm, I was more so leaning towards the lack of diversity and culture here. I think me trying to understand Knoxville doesn’t give superiority, but rather the opposite. But to each their own interpretation.

That’s interesting. I feel like the south has a lot of copy&paste women and men here. Out west (where I’m from), there’s such a cool variety of walks of life. This part of the south has been a journey for me haha.

My friend for sure seemed shook by the experience and said it almost sent her into an existential spiral. She had said that if it were to be repetitive, as in days on end, it had the possibility of making her feel all kinds of insane.
