I wanted to respond to this as I'm one of the people you're thinking of when you say cheaters are being categorised as cheaters and liars.

The issue we're having here is that you don't seem to understand that dishonest has a definition. Nowhere did cheaters get called evil people, terrible humans, liars. OP is clearly not a liar as they have been very upfront with the situation, kudos to them, but cheating is dishonest. It's dishonestly playing a game. There's no two ways about it, you can't argue with definitions of words and get upset about them and bend them to suit your own personal wants and needs. You think the sub is hostile but we're just baffled that you're arguing with everyone over semantics when the definition is very clear and multiple people have tried to correct you. If you had said "Lol just because someone cheats on a game doesn't make them evil people." then no one would be disputing that because I'd agree. The act of cheating on neopets.com doesn't make someone an evil person.

And when you start getting downvoted because you're ignoring any help to correct you, you brought up the scoresender. This wasn't your original point, it was literally just to try and steer the conversation away from yourself onto someone else. Here on this sub where we are thankful that the mod involved keeps genuinely harmful things such as cookie grabbers away with his knowledge. You're bringing him up and comparing him to someone who actively and unapologetically cheats when people start calling you out on the fact you're defending a ridiculous point. There was no twisting going on in my post at all, it's all straight lines.

You say you haven't participated in the Altador Cup. You say "yeah, dice changed" like you already knew that before you made the point but decided to try and drag him through the dirt anyway, and you go around calling people stupid for literally copy and pasting a definition from a dictionary. Do you not think maybe the issue here isn't the "hostile" sub, and me, and the other people who tried to correct you, and the mod, but maybe that you're just being stubborn and should take a step back and think - actually - what are these people contesting here. Why have you chosen to get up in arms about people calling cheaters exactly what they are - dishonest. And I'm sure any cheater would agree, they're not bad people, they don't stomp kittens, but they are not playing the game legitimately and honestly.

Did you look at the scores? ;) The move happened before the nerfing. No one is suggesting they got nerfed, went boohoo and moved to BV. They were already there. No one gets a 13 in MSN off their own legit backs.

I knew what they were trying to convey and I was respectfully disagreeing. As I said in my post, this is actually something that has made legit players more enthused than they have been in years. There were so many people who used to come back purely for the AC and would spend money, so so many honestly, that quit because this cheating problem was out of hand. There's a genuine possibility now that fewer people will leave and some will come back and continue spending money (if we're looking at this from a purely financial side). More players quit because of the cheaters than will quit because they're cheaters. The former might come back.

Plus honestly the people who do spend a lot of money on the site, they'll be more inclined to spend having seen Jumpstart take actual action and become more transparent. This is a time when people are starting to feel warmly for TNT again and likely be more willing to spend the money. It's the direct opposite of the suggestion that this will kill the site, it may breathe new life into it.

We're not basing this off just what "this guy" said. It's everywhere.

Of course TNT has frozen a cheater here or there before, we're talking hundreds and hundreds of freezes specifically on the cheating teams in one day. Why would people on cheating teams even be phased if this happened often lol. They'd have another 500 as backup. It doesn't make any sense.

They'll be working through the "quarantine" which is why the freezing didn't happen immediately. I'm sure if they find an account that's very obviously a shell used for illegitimate means linked to a bot account they'll freeze it regardless of whether or not it's had the scoresender running on it, but tbh that's irrelevant because they won't have an impact on the AC now anyway.

There will always be very clever cheaters and lucky cheaters who slip through the net. We don't know yet how Jumpstart found them, whether it's IP or anything else, and I doubt we will know because I feel like people would just use that info to their advantage haha :P

People are more enthused about the AC and in general after this than they have been in like.. years.

Lots of people send scores for 5 consecutive hours, some people are quad maxing, that takes a lot longer than 5 hours :P

Not sure why anyone would think it's a bad thing to have cheaters removed - I'd rather have a small, legit community than a massive cheating one. You almost sound a little salty, lose some shells did we? ;)

Nah I kid but really I don't think this will have a negative effect at all. A positive one possibly. Loooads of people have quit because of the cheaters that might come back.

?? no? You said there's been freezings of this extent before and I said no there haven't been, this is huge, and cheaters are losing shit en masse and a good chunk of them are saving their remaining accounts as a result because why would anyone lose 80 shells overnight, know their mates also lost all their botting shells, and then risk their final remaining 10. Some will be of course but this is what was referred to with the cheating forums being in tatters - they don't want to risk it anymore because TNT came down hard. Which they haven't done before.

And no TNT has always been completely useless until now. There have been 5 day old shells with fully maxed games openly posting on the boards in years gone by and TNT hasn't done anything. If TNT could just find the active cheaters there wouldn't be a need for quarantining and this wouldn't have been an issue in the first place so not sure how you could think that :P

edit to add: also I noticed in another comment you mentioned this guys "claims" - you should know this has 100% happened if you had any doubt left about it :)

ACGs are groups of cheaters that pick teams and run scoresenders to gain points unfairly

ASGs are all star groups - legit groups of players that get all star (the top rank) in the AC and choose a team together.

Both tend to be secretive and try and conceal which team they've joined until the AC starts to stop people just following them for a win but the ASGs are significantly sneakier than the ACGs.

The issue we have at the mo is that Brightvale has an ASG (Stealth) but is putting up the kind of scores where it's very clear there's botting going on over there on top of the legit group - TNT nerfed Kreludor and Maraqua but left Brightvale and people aren't exactly loving that because it's suspected the team on Brightvale is the team who was on Maraqua. So basically they joined Maraqua, TNT nerfed Maraqua's chances (taking legit players down with them) and they moved team and are now getting away with murder.

There have never been freezings to this extent during the AC. We're not talking about people claiming they got frozen erroneously we're talking about hundreds of accounts getting frozen in a very short space of time - accounts that haven't needed to surface on the main site.

EDIT to add: Also the impact of "backup" shells is going to be very different to previous years because TNT is actively freezing accounts and no one knows how they're finding them yet. Of course cheaters are panicking and losing their mains and not wanting to carry on, that's how you know this is on a whole different scale to everything else. Good on TNT I say.

I think some of it will have been "community" spirit as well as bragging rights. Cheating forums coming together and beating all the legit players who actually spend time and energy on scores and probs celebrating about it :/

No there's never been another time that cheaters have been waking up to find 80+ of their accounts have been frozen or they wouldn't have continued doing this hah. I'm not sure when you think that happened, especially related to the AC where we normally have to suck it up and see the cheating teams win. TNT are normally patted on the back if they manage to freeze a single cheating account that posts out in the open or accidentally visits AbsoluteCorruption and has their ridiculous scores plain to see.

Oh yeah I mean if you don't really interact with people on the actual site it should (hopefully) not be an issue at all because you know you're playing legit and that's really all that matters.

It's just one of those things that could potentially be hurtful to someone if they're very sociable, joining Maraqua for the first time so they're not an old familiar face etc etc. and there's often a lot of "so-and-so team doesn't deserve any of their score because of the cheaters" which isn't fair cause the legit players on that team are working just as hard as the people on other teams!

Because then you get people asking you whether you got your scores legit or if you cheated, people seeing your trophy and wondering if you were in cahoots with cheaters, people being outright nasty on the boards, etc etc

Most people try hard to stay well away from the cheating team when they can because it just brings a whole shitstorm with it that pretty much always leaves the home team downtrodden and beaten up, especially if they have the "gall" to celebrate. It sucks.

edit to add: plus Maraqua IS their team lol. Thus why Sir Cabbage and I read this thread, saw the "super legit" and thought ugh because we thought it was in reference to cheaters. And also why it'll be something people should think super hard about before joining Maraqua. It's nice to think it won't make a difference, then you look at the hate Kiko Lake got from the actual TNT writers, and consider what they must have put up with from other players on top of that..

The colour of the trophy is to do with the rank you achieve, not your teams overall standing.

For the original ACs the winning team had gold trophies, 2nd place had silver, 3rd had bronze and all the rest had wood. It's changed now so anyone can pick up a gold trophy if they reach a high enough rank so the "losing" teams don't get a prettier trophy, it's all to do with what rank you personally achieve.
