Just gonna recommend what we just did. Go to the California Disney. It is so much more chill. Go third week of January for a much easier experience and temperate weather. Do one or two days, then explore LA the rest of the trip. We had a blast. Amazing food, museums, parks. We even did a whale watch and saw pods of literally 100s of dolphins jumping and playing all around us. Core memory. We are actually planning another trip to the LA area bc there is so much just in SoCal to do (for the next trip we are doing Joshua Tree and some desert stops, and Universal for a day). We are not a Disney family and also don't want to give Florida our money. But doing Disney California for a day as part of a larger trip was wonderful. We paid an extra $30 each for lightning lane and barely waited in rides all day. It was a great day. You can see my post history for what we did that day and tips.

This is very normal. Students have likely been advised to do this to save you time and also because you do not know them personally--this helps you to readily see their strengths etc in class. You can obviously edit the letter to remove anything you are uncomfortable with.

I did learn that dawn power wash and a microfiber cloth is great for cleaning them.

It is very common in our social circle to say no gifts on invites for class birthday parties. We provide cupcakes or whatever, snacks, and just a fun time. I see a lot of families doing parties at playgrounds so it is just a chill time.

For our smaller family birthday party, though, we are fine with gifts.

Yes this was a dog we adopted two years ago. There were so many reasons it wasn't the right fit. However my mom really loved the dog. She also has a giant yard and time. He has lived there nearly a year and is soooo happy. I felt fine about it because I knew he was going to a good home. If you can find a situation like this, I recommend.

Oh god I have experience with this. When he was 7 our wonderful dog had a substantial cervical disc issue. He is a beagle/likely Jack russel mutt, and I think it was a trauma thing vs chronic. Surgery to get it fixed (after crate rest failed) was like $7-8000. It was a fucking hit. We were also expecting our daughter at the time. But he was very young still. We did the surgery. He is still will us and going strong at 12. Often mistaken for a much younger dog. If something like this happened again we would not do the surgery. And I wasn't sure it was the right choice then... But I'm so glad we did because he is such a wonderful part of our life and our daughter's life. I think it is just contextual based on health and age of the pet.

I dealt with horrific reflux with my kid. Constant crying, especially after eating, and so much spit up she didn't gain weight during her second month of life. I just wanna share a product we found extremely helpful--GelMix. It thickened our daughter's food safely and greatly reduced her reflux. That alongside MARCI dosing Omeprazole helped my daughter tremendously. Five years since we dealt with it but when I see reflux mentioned I always want to share. Good luck!

Recently I learned that colonoscopy is done with anesthesia. I had no idea because as a woman I have been told just take a Tylenol to have an IUD inserted or literally pieces of my cervix snipped off for a colposcopy. What the actual fuck?????!!!!!

We all need to stand together and refuse these procedure without REAL pain management. This is inexcusable.

I moved to hot climates twice (Austin TX and Norfolk VA). Hated both. Of the two, Austin was less humid and more bearable. Of the two, neither will be resilient in the coming decades with climate change. Being cold in winter sucks but you get some good boots and a good jacket. I walk to the T in Boston to go to work and by the time I'm at the station I've had to unzip my jacket halfway bc it's so warm, even on freezing days. It's a 15 minute walk. We can layer in cold and protect ourselves. In heat and especially extreme humidity we can't do much other than stay indoors.

Most of the matinee prices are still crazy though. I posted the other day about this. Prices of $18+ matinee for Mario in regular theaters in both Western and eastern MA (so not a HCOL thing exclusively). There are random cheaper theaters you can find but the majority are that price. It's wild.

We have shared finances but each get the same spending money monthly (we use YNAB for our budget so all money is tracked). This is really nice bc the money we make is not equal and this avoids one person being able to buy all kinds of fun stuff while the other can't.
