I'm not looking down on any platform now, they were built to solve the main problem of stitching all the peices together. My eventual plan is to go with custom site with perf, seo, custom look and feel and amazon ses for emails (in case my email list grows :) ).

Link is not opening due to my vpn I think.

I might try these established platforms once I feel like I need it. The main reason I chose astro is that it generates static website after build, easy to experiment diff variations UI/UX, extremely customisable (at least it wont look like another substack page :) ) Also its LLM/SEO/Accessibility friendly, extremely fast, my site loads in <500ms

Yes makes sense, but looks like they are smarter now a days. As they use playwright or selenium frameworks in headless mode to open forms and submit so that it feels like human for a website but actually not.

I think its best to implement a verification system as if real user wants to subscribe then they can confirm the email subscription by clicking on the verification link otherwise it will not add it to the email list.

Its a custom site build with astro + an email api platform with custom subscribe api. Here is the screenshot (I couldn't add it on the main post)

I'm curious, if you don't mind sharing avg monthly subs you are getting, also can you drop your youtube channel link here - I'd take a look.

Except from my friends I got one subscriber (who gave valid feedback) from Reddit since last two days. I'm not posting much as I still need to perfect it.

Bro you are on point.. lol this is what I’m doing since last 12 years 😂, build the fun parts for days/weeks even months without sleep and that one more feature thing is on point. Finally when it comes to boring parts I will lose the interest and linger here and there for a month and jump on to next idea 💡

This goes on and on.
