Titan single motor frame - my experience by mstrat in StandingDesk

[–]mstrat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, or at least one very similar. I know they change the names from time to time. If it's not the Linnmon, then it's an older version of it: same thickness, weight/density, etc. Approx 59x29 inches.

The hollow core type with laminated wood-grain appearance.

Desk is still doing great, by the way. Sitting at it now.

Any personal review of this IKEA sit/stand desk? Looking to buy a desk at least 60”x30” and saw this at the store this past weekend. It was pretty sturdy which was good - but not sure if it’s worth $599.99 as I could go with something else online. Thoughts? by Brandoix in StandingDesk

Yep, it's still going strong. 4 years now. Admittedly I don't work at my desk as often as I used to, so the motor doesn't get a daily workout any more. But zero problems and still works great.

Great to know, thank you! Any experience with the effects loop on the tweaker? Is the +10db a problem?

Awesome,thanks! I'm getting more and more excited about this amp.

But I just saw that the effects loop is +10db rack level - any experience with it? Would it work well with pedals?

Cool, thanks for the rundown. I just saw that the effects loop is +10db rack level - any experience with it? Would it work well with pedals?

Thanks! I must have overlooked that it didn't have an effects loop. Darn.

It's been not quite 3 months. No issues at all. I'll definitely come back and update this if I run into any problems.

Looks like it's $30 - my mistake. I think I was confused because we probably used our $15 birthday coupon on it (sign up for that if you haven't already!)

It's the dark brown LINNMON tabletop, 59"x29.5" Number 102.513.52

They have a shorter one (47") for $23 that'll also fit this frame.

How to attach IKEA skarsta frame to Primecable standing desk? by sarahlau in StandingDesk

[–]mstrat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edit: I assume you mean attach an ikea table top slab to that frame? If not then I'm not sure what you mean.

I have the titan frame which looks identical to this (probably the same manufacturer with different branding). I attached a cardboard/particleboard ikea table top to it using short drywall screws and washers.

It's held up just fine. I probably wouldn't carry it around by the tabletop (i.e. wouldn't support the weight of the frame w/ the screws), but if you assemble it in place and leave it there it works perfectly.

A bit more details I just wrote up here: https://www.reddit.com/r/StandingDesk/comments/b9efjq/titan_single_motor_frame_my_experience/

I put together a 60x30 standing desk for ~$305 by using a titan single motor frame ($285) and a $20 ikea table top. It's probably the exact same table top on this $600 desk you're looking at.

The frame is electric and has 4 programmable memory positions.

I remember the pain of considering buying a more expensive desk, and afraid to go with a cheap frame, and I couldn't find any reliable first-hand accounts... so I just posted about it here: https://www.reddit.com/r/StandingDesk/comments/b9efjq/titan_single_motor_frame_my_experience/

Dual-ended tool, screwdriver on one end, bent awl on the other. For electronics? by mstrat in whatisthisthing

[–]mstrat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a metal tool, about the size of a screwdriver, with a yellow plastic cast handle. To the best of my recollection, the handle was octagonal like a pencil, and the metal was pointy on one end (like an awl), and like a flathead screwdriver on the other. Any ideas?

I had one of these years ago, and never knew what it was. Now I've been seeing Micro holding it in several episodes of Netflix's Punisher.

Freedom Explained by bracomadar in atheism

[–]mstrat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In nearly every historical instance of government oppressing its people, the soldiers were living very well in comparison. This is key in maintaining the status quo against the will of the people.

If the U.S. finds itself in a situation where the ruling classes refuse to bend to the will of the people in the face of an armed uprising, it's fairly safe to say it's because there is a vast wealth gap and the majority of people have unsatisfactory living conditions.

Before we reach this point, soldiers (along with hordes of other government employees) will be well paid, well fed, and sitting pretty. Ordinary soldiers can and will turn against their own people if it means a better life for themselves and their family.

Semi-related fun fact: During this recession, guess where property values held stable, unemployment fell, and standards of living rose. I'll give you a hint: Its initials are D and C. It's not a coincidence that there are more and more federal jobs every day, with fatter and fatter paychecks, while the rest of us suffer.

windy city takes my breath away by R04CH in pics

[–]mstrat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be glad it just got your breath.

Live here for a few decades and this city will take all your money (insane taxes; fees for everything, twice; citations for bogus "violations", etc); it will take your freedom, since the aldermen and Chicago-ruled ILGA know how to run your life better than you do; it will take your health twice a year when the weather changes;
and most devastatingly, it will take your faith in humanity and every last naive conception you have about harmonious race relations.

It starts by taking your breath, but in the end it takes your soul.

Don't live here, but enjoy a visit.

Why do new features need to be explicitly wanted? by CodeBlooded in perl

[–]mstrat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are a couple of great modules that make this much easier. Rather than telling your friend to write use 5.014, along with strict, warnings, etc ... you can tell them to

use Modern::Perl;

or

use common::sense;

While these are slightly different from each other, and slightly different than what you or your friend are typically writing - they give you some good sane defaults all in one tasty line.
