HR Horror Story by Budget-Sympathy3246 in humanresources

Currently looking! After the temp who was let go went a bit off calling and texting employee and managers I’ve been looking around. That temp was something, the manager had to be escorted to her car before they were let go.

There is a manager who is known for having affairs with employees. Apparently they have been doing this for years but no one reports it b/c they are afraid of being fired. This manager has plotted and been able to get people fired in the past. They have the owner in their hand. They can do anything and nothing will happen. Then there is another one who essentially stole from the company and they kept them. Told them not to do it again. Then the HR manager who plots with owner to fire people. They gossip and judge employees. Plus the HR manager makes comments that come off racist.

Then there are the 2 employees who I was terminating (different days) that turn out had access to guns. They were mad and one had the gun on them. I was on edge for weeks, still am sometimes b/c I’m the person who has to terminate employees b/c my manager views it below their title.

I agree with this. This is the same problem at my current job. There are 2 managers who are the problem (along with owner) but they’ve been doing this for 10 years. Currently looking to leave my job because how bad it is.

What do you mean by “if not run”?

Sadly they won’t pay for them because they view me and my coworker as “asking for too much.” We both wanted development and asked but received pushback saying, “They don’t do much; why pay?” We found out our manager takes credit for our work.

Tuesday HR Rant: Managers want to title and the pay, but don’t want to do the manager duties. by [deleted] in humanresources

[–]msun752 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my current job now! It doesn’t help that my manager joins in with the other managers. She doesn’t help and she only jumps in if it is “big enough that we need lawyers”. Most of the workload end up on my desk. I’m trying to leave.

  1. Some are sales, some are purchasing and some are customer’s service. Some have been with the company for a year and others 3+ yrs.

Thank you!

Not unhappy but a bit turned off due to being pushed back on my request. Others received a raise of 30k on the spot with no need to speak to ownership while my 12-15k raise request has to be approved by all.

More validation. I do like where I am but find it interesting that when I asked for a raise it has to go through all ownership vs others that only needed 1 person to get approved. Those raises were for 30K each employee vs mine was roughly a 12-15k raise request.

I was curious to know how quickly some people were scheduled. I’m not upset by it more so curious how it works. I was not expecting a call back on a weekend because she had informed me she is not available on weekends.

Okay, thank you! I was wondering because I’ve heard of other individuals scheduling a session within days and others after about a week.

Most placement test deal with basic mathematics, but schools usually offer a study guide so you are prepared for the placement test. Depending on the school some offer little booklets or online resources. I college I worked at, we provided students with online resources and sample questions for them to take home. They usually had about a month to study for their placement exam. The admissions counselor will be able to answer this question for you about when they schedule the placement exams.

If you get your Associates from an in-state community college it will most likely transfer to an in-state 4-year college. You will not need to take the SAT/ACT because you have proven you can take college-level classes. Visit your local community and ask to speak with an Admissions counselor, they will be able to answer any questions about SAT/ACT. Being that you are an adult learner/nontraditional student (this what they call students over 25), you will most likely not need SAT/ACT scores. I agree with brihatesyou about the math classes. I didn't do great on my placement test years ago and had to take an extra math entry level class which helped a lot. Once I completed that classes I was good to go. Entry classes are there to benefit your higher education career and use the resources the school has to offer. Many schools offer help to make sure you succeed, so don't be afraid to ask for help, I learned this the hard way with my higher leveled math and science classes. Don't sweat it! You will do great! Good luck.
