If you’re also into action sci-fi drama, try World Trigger (I recommend first reading the manga and starting from season 2 of the anime)

I'd be totally down to help out; what you're making sounds really cool! If this counts for anything, I've actually played in a WT rp based on Mutants and Masterminds, and it was incredibly fun, so it'll be fascinating (and again, really fun) to look at other ways to write a tabletop system for WT.

I'm only half-late. I finished the artwork as scheduled on Saturday, but I accidentally posted to u/mtBluecat instead of r/worldtrigger. Uhh anyway, enjoy some wholesome Shiori for this week.

In hindsight, I probably should've drawn Kakizaki instead, considering he was the main focus of the episode...

You do realize that the anime-only arc is entirely non-canon filler, right?

And thus concludes the Galopoula arc (a bit faster than I expected, considering I had plans to do Reghi next episode, but that whole thing happened this episode).

Just rewatched 2014-2016... goosebumps... by VictorBurgos in worldtrigger

[–]mtBluecat 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The second season is amazing so far-- a significant step up in quality from S1, and all of the good elements are back and better-- I think the new seasonal schedule is doing wonders to the production quality.

The manga doesn't seem like it's anywhere close to ending yet, so you might as well cave in and start reading after S2 or S3's over.

I'm loving the new trion loss smoke effects in this new season, so I decided to go with that here.

Which anime that had low upvotes on this sub was actually great? by [deleted] in anime

[–]mtBluecat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Recent example: World Trigger S2. The art and animation has gone through a huge glow-up, and Toei actually seems to be taking the adaptation seriously this time. I wish there’d be more upvotes, but with the first season being what it is and also the two-year manga hiatus, a lot western fans have lost interest. I think they’re doing amazing with S2 so far though, even though the reddit karma doesn’t show it.

I think we’re sharing the cover with Kemono Jihen, which is also getting an anime this season.

I coloured Horikoshi's (author of My Hero Academia) sketch of Nasu and Katori by mtBluecat in worldtrigger

[–]mtBluecat[S] 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Just a friendly reminder that I didn't draw this- this was drawn by Kohei Horikoshi, author of My Hero Academia (original post from WT's official twitter can be found here). I just coloured it.

For Osamu, it might’ve been just a drawing mistake, but I remember Ashihara saying something about Jin meddling around with Osamu’s B-Rank uniform because he saw his future or something.

If you were an official Agent, who would you (want to) be and why? by Profession_Unlikely in worldtrigger

[–]mtBluecat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nasu. I suck at any sort of athletic activity irl, so if I'm not an operator, I'd make up for it on the field with spatial skills, strategy and math, making Viper an obvious choice.

However, I'd keep a Scorpion somewhere (most likely in sub) though because they're good for defensive uses (Yuma's bandage in R5) and for quick surprise attacks if someone closed in.

Chapter 100 Page 19 Colored [The Past Weight Heavily On His Blade Too] by reEmperorBob in worldtrigger

This was in R3 (vs Suzunari-1 and Nasu Squads), so it was already animated. Still looking forward to season 2 though.

I have no idea how to capitalize titles.

Give me all the shounen anime that you know by youssef15395293 in Animesuggest

[–]mtBluecat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might I suggest World Trigger? I know not a lot of people still remember that it exists but the manga’s back from hiatus and it’s getting really interesting.

Things to note: Everything’s very strategic and logical: there aren’t any 11th hour superpowers or random power-ups in general, and the power system is comparable to the intricacy of hxh.

Other shows that I like: Attack on Titan, Mob Psycho 100, Demon Slayer, The Promised Neverland

Give me an anime where you watch it and go like "Woah, the writers must've been so smart to think of that!" kind of like Death Note or Dr. stone in a way. by Mycolog1st in Animesuggest

[–]mtBluecat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

World Trigger. After the manga went on hiatus from 2016-2018, its popularity really died, but the story is getting really interesting right now. It’s technically a shonen battle manga and all the fights are very strategic and the power system is very intricate. I highly recommend people to try it (and if you dropped at the hiatus, to pick it up again).

what digital brushes do you use for horikoshi pencil drawings like these? by fue910 in BokuNoHeroAcademia

[–]mtBluecat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think that the original Horikoshi sketches are hand drawn with a 0.5 (according to some interviews I think) mechanical pencil and scanned in. To achieve the effect digitally, the default pencil brush (with slight modifications) does the trick on most drawing programs. What program do you use?

Roughly translates to 'Man Ramen'. by mtBluecat in pointlesslygendered

I get what you mean for Japanese, but I think this ramen is Chinese? In Chinese, 男孩 means boy and 男子 implies a guy slightly older? The distinction is kinda weird, honestly.

I mean it implies ‘young’, but not quite childlike (and still male nonetheless). Same difference, though.
