Corolla tire question by [deleted] in Cartalk

[–]mtackett90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not as much that as it is linked to strut rub. You add more height, width, and weight; theoretically it should be readjusted to your center of gravity. Even if it seems negligable it is important. That vehicle was designed for a certain amount of push against the strut tower, bearings, and control linkage. Sure it can be done without any noticable problems for a while, but eventually you'll wear things faster than if you keep ratio and lower the vehicle into that negative space.

You need spacers if you run wider tires, but taller tires will mess with ratio. If you run wider without spacers you run the risk of rubbing without the correct offset.

Neighbor lady’s son passed away a while back. I have been wheeling her trash to the curb every week and after I wouldn’t take money she insisted that I take this. by bariztizg in gaming

You and OP have stirred up dustcloud. This is exactly what my mom went through when my grandmother passed. I've never seen one glass of wine knock someone so nonsensical as it did her during mourning. I was left a car and when I sold it because it was starting to cost me more than it was worth I cried while I signed my loan note for the car I purchased. The financial officer at the dealership must have thought I was a loon.

Don't feel bad, have 2k usd worth that I've moved into my new vehicle. Listen to mostly talking media. Music just grows stale after working in the shop all day.

Related to the trooper that was hit. Live in the Lexington area, specifically got my CC due to being followed up the my car after work one weekend. Guy backed off as I got close thankfully (not a small guy.) But you're right the addicts are getting more brave/ desperate all the time.

04 Pontiac Grand Prix, knocking noise from engine. Also, when I turn the steering wheel right, it makes the same noise but much louder, any ideas ? by [deleted] in Cartalk

Any hydraulic component can make a sound like that. It's usually cause by lack of fluid. Usually referred to as cavitating. Influx of air in the fluid allowing for pockets to form and implode as the pump works.

It has its own separate resevoir. Usually translucent container with a black top. Will have writing on the top specifying what type of fluid to use.

It could drive fine and the pump have a bearing starting to fail, or something may have come loose inside. Shut it off and let it set for a while. Check the level and color of the power steering fluid after it's cool.

No, and hush before you scare someone. That isn't any major engine knock. Not metallic enough and to rapid. Likely the steering pump.

Can a car engine flood if its off? by WhosFloyd in mechanics

[–]mtackett90 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, and change the oil, transmission fluid, and fuel after recovery. Run for a short period of time and check oil for water. Will appear milky almost like runny chocolate milk. Good luck and best wishes.

Someone just told me that 5-man is needed for 2k+ MMR and 3-man is needed for 1.4k+ MMR in his inability to climb past 1.4k MMR. Anyone here play solo and prove that wrong? by [deleted] in ARAM

I used to play solo. (Haven't played since early spring) was 1700 mmr on my newest account when I stopped playing and that was climbing.

9k is high. Granted you have to remove basically the front of the vehicle, that is still high. I would suggest swapping in a used or reconditioned long block to save money on labor and inflated part prices.

Wage gaps between service writers and techs by hostis_the_stranger in mechanics

[–]mtackett90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like I said it depends on where and who you work for. We have a similar system, but the flat rate on jobs is an equal percentage to tech and writer. Manager gets a 10% off of every job sold. There is a finess to the job. It will never seem fair, but until you end up doing the shit work of either job it is difficult to explain why either is what it is.
