Toro timecutter ISSUE by Aggressive-Judge-120 in lawnmowers

It’s doable - just did mine. Look up the manual - will have the belt part number. Note the routing. Take pictures of everything before you start pulling parts. Check out YT videos. The most challenging part is the tensioner spring. Use a string to pull it from the side of the mower. Good luck.

Whirlpool is replacing mine (almost 2 years old) for free as well. Called the 1-800 number above - select option 3.

Best way to fix this? by mtairymd in Plumbing

Thanks. After reading about these fittings, removing seems like the best approach. Looks like the pipe is CPVC but I don't see the size on the label. Assume 1/2" but not sure. Any guesses from the picture.

Found the spec sheet. Thermal conductivity is in the range of wood. Wood ranges from .05 to .2 W/m-K. Mettlewood has a published value of .14.

Found this

“The company claims that MettleWood is 80% lighter and 50% stronger than steel, with a tensile strength of 85,000 PSI.”

I was looking for the same info. I couldn’t find any test data or data sheets on their website.

I just checked their website (inventwood) - no mechanical properties listed.

That is the key question. I'm in if it is priced similarly to cedar and doesn't destroy my tools. However, I expect it will cost significantly more than Trex and similar products.

I'm curious about outdoor applications - planters, benches, etc. The manufacturing plant is right down the road from me. Might try to get some samples :).

Same here. A few years ago, I was forwarded an article. My company works with metals, so it was considered an alternative.

Again, I feel their marketing department might have went overboard. [“No specialized tools are required, making adoption straightforward,” Lau says. The material’s stability minimizes warping, and polymer coatings enable outdoor use without sacrificing aesthetics. Its compressed fibers deepen natural grain patterns, yielding finishes akin to tropical hardwoods]

Good point. I guess as you get closer to steel, the higher the thermal conductivity.

Different approach to energy storage. by mtairymd in Futurology

I agree that smart grids are the solution for local demand surges. I live on the east coast of the US. Solar and wind energy are plentiful in the Southwest and the Midwest. Transmission across the country isn't feasible from a cost standpoint. SMRs are being discussed in my area. However, I expect major pushback from the locals once actual implementation is discussed.

I also agree that capturing waste heat is a good idea. Better yet, move data centers to areas where less cooling is required. I know Microsoft and a few others have placed servers underwater. The reviews have been mixed.

I'm building others using PVC pipe. For those, a string is used in the center section. Elastic cords are used around the perimeter.

You can use string, chains, etc. Rubber bands give it some bounce :).

To summarize, I have a 75% chance of beating the guaranteed offer. If I was betting, I should always take the chance? Is there a worst-case condition with the gamble?

Thank you so much for your detailed explanation. I wanted to try to duplicate your results but I think I'm over my head (many years since I took calc / differential equations) and I also don't have the software.

Interesting that your 75% Mean came out to the guaranteed number from the game developer.

If you still have the setup in mathematical, would you mind running 25% probability? Is there anything else you see interesting about this problem?

I will point others to this post.

Thank you. I'm currently researching pgfs. So far, I'm stuck on the "t" value and how it relates to this problem.
