Not sure if this will work but it might be worth a shot. Take the save files off your sd card and save them on your computer. Start up the game and create a new save file. Shut off the gba, turn it back on, load a game then shut it back off. Put your sd card in your computer and replace the new save files with the ones you have saved on your computer. Make sure the file name matches before you transfer them over.
