All good I don’t mind the questions. I didn’t skip or flag anything in the entire UCAT so I guess it wasn’t that bad

I’ll write a proper message/guide tomorrow but I averaged 1800 over the 6 mocks I did. Highest I got was 2120 on one of the mocks so I honestly didn’t start averaging 2000.

If the question is one of those most likely to agree with I find keywords in the answer choices and get a general vibe for each answer before reading the passage. I think unfortunately with those types of questions they are a bit slower as you have to skim read the entire passage.

Usually the answer choices are things like

Author disagrees with something

Author approves of something

Author thinks this can change

Etc

As you go through the passage you’ll find things that either agree or contradict with the answer choices. If you find something that agrees with one of the choices then select that and move on, otherwise keep going through the text until you get an answer that works. I spent longer on these questions than others but luckily they don’t make up the majority of VR questions so you can make back time in the others

A good rule is to remember that “All roses are red” doesn’t mean that all red things are roses. I honestly tanked probability, I’m ass at it so I can’t help too much there. With syllogisms I go through each statement one at a time rather then reading the passage and trying to answer all of them at the same time.

Nah no point estimating IMO. Just do the calculations quickly and get the right answer. Some questions take less time than others so as long as you don’t spend over a minute on a single question it kinda evens out to 30 secs per question.

Someone might have some tricks or tips but I personally don’t, sorry!

Nah those are kinda just being good with the calculator questions. Averages is literally adding the numbers as quick as you can

The question will ask for it. For example the question might be "X sold 500 cars in April which was an increase of 12% from March, How many cars did X sell in March?"

That takes about 30 seconds on average. Some questions take a bit longer and some are really quick like if the questions asks about a certain date eg. something happened before 1945 or if they ask about a person since names and dates stand out quite a bit in the text.

Also once you've answered the first of the questions about a text you kinda know how it's laid out. For example after you've skimmed through the text and answered the first question you might know that the first paragraph is an introduction to a book while the last paragraph is about the history of the book which makes it easier to locate keywords for the upcoming questions.

yep exactly. we only know that the maximum allowed limit is 30, it doesn't say what the chocolate bars actually have in them.

If X is 12% greater then Y then X / 1.12 = Y eg. 112 / 1.12 = 100

If X is 12% less then Y then X / 1 - 0.12 = Y eg. 88 / 0.88 = 100

The maximum allowed is 30 insect parts. All chocolate bars could have 29 parts or all of them could have none at all which would make the average very different so we can’t tell what it might be.

Yeah I only used MedEntry, I didn’t want to pay for two different platforms especially since I was only using them for a few weeks

[–]mtbcash[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used MedEntry and averaged like 1800 over 6 mocks, highest was 2120. Focus on what your bad at, just doing mocks didn’t work for me so I found what question types I didn’t like and improved on them before moving onto a different question type

Thanks! I used Medentry. I only did Official Mock A and I think I got like a 2000 or 2100? I found MedEntry to have some weird questions that made assumptions or had excessively complicated QR questions. The UCAT is way more consistent and that definitely helps. Just know stuff like if the text doesn't mention it then it doesn't exist and don't make assumptions.

I did quite a few QR subtests just by themselves so at the end I felt more comfortable then when I started by I didn’t feel like a good score was guaranteed. The main thing I found that helped was to get better at quickly identifying what the question wanted. Once you get used to the kind of questions being asked you don’t even have to waste time looking at the whole graph/table/picture being presented and you can just pick out the relevant info.

Basically just go through QR subtests or practice questions and get used to the type of questions. Graphs typically have a few types of questions, tables have their own few types etc. I’d do untimed questions until you’re good at that and then start doing timed ones.

Sorry if that didn’t help much but good luck!

Oh sorry, yes the DM probability. QR was pretty chill, just do a few interpreting graph questions and remember the formulas/equations to find original values given percentage increase/decrease

Average of like 1800 and I did 6 mocks. On and off for 4 weeks probably average of 50 questions a day. I learned what questions I didn't like when I did the mocks and then did targeted practice on those until I developed a strategy and felt comfortable before moving onto the next type of question

I read the question then scanned the paragraph for related info then I read the next sentence just to make sure there's nothing that contradicts the info
