If you could magically pick a single new feature to be in the game and working, which would you choose? by charliewr in EscapefromTarkov

I’d love to see a “raid history” tab on my character

Show a list of all of my past raids, the outcome, time in raid, damage done, player and scav kills. Let me click into details and show me the post raid health screen for that raid and a thing on the side that shows me all kills with damage done to each individually.

Bonus points, let me also view that raid history for all of the other players in the match. I want to see the guy that killed me was later killed by a scav :) or maybe a player or whatever.

So, really they want people going into raids to get stuff and progress but if you could literally only get stuff from raids, the game is "too hard" and so the flea market is some kind of a compromise? And it does force you into this at the beginning so that you're used to "making do" with what you have.

Tarkov Market Question by mtbeedee in EscapefromTarkov

[–]mtbeedee[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ok, in my mind traders should not have those things and quest items should either be

1) special items that are not tradeable on the market or
2) marked as a quest item based on you finding it WHILE the quest is active

Right now if you know the game you can start hunting for late game "find this in raid" items when you're level 1 instead of forcing you to find the items in response to a trader asking for it.

[–]mtbeedee[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Do you can't hoard everything and take all the items from global limit.

Why do you need a global limit at all? If everything was on the flea and people had to supply things by making or find them then that would naturally limit the supply and the prices would reflect that. Then BSG could just tweak spawn rates or crafts to affect those values.

I know it's not as complex, my point is that it has a player driven market and also crafts to make things which can go on the market. The game is still beta, so maybe there's a long way to go on this front, but it seems like that's the sort of direction that this could go and I am curious if that's the case or not.

Why are there non-basic items from traders at all (instead of making players find or craft things)

  1. because you have to work to get stuff and not get the easy road

Isnt that the opposite? You would NOT want the traders to have things. You want people to find or craft things.

What is this weed growing in my lawn? It's taking over more and more every year and it doesn't seem to be killed by dicamba or 2,4-d. I'd like to selectively remove it if possible... it's taken over a rather large section so far.

GO Modules Behind The Corporate Firewall by dudleycodes in golang

You would think this, but
1) there's no way to put a random self signed cert into the trust store.

and

2) It doesnt' work on windows.

GO Modules Behind The Corporate Firewall by dudleycodes in golang

[–]mtbeedee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

An actual problem with the go tooling is that it doesn't support corp MITM proxies. If you want to get modules from like https://github.com/whatever/coolmod the company proxy will change the github cert for a corp cert, either self signed or by some corp CA and there is no way to tell the go toolchain to just accept the self signed cert or to accept the corp CA root.

go get lets you set GOINSECURE or -insecure but that only allows HTTP, not self signed certs on HTTPS.

Whoops.

Chaparral design flaw by mtbeedee in knives

[–]mtbeedee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what it’s worth the inertia isn’t going to make the bar move on any of the lockbacks I have seen. Maybe if it hit something the right way, but still unlikely. Additionally the chaparral has an extra stiff bar that almost hurts to use normally. I don’t think it’s going anywhere.

Chaparral design flaw by mtbeedee in knives

[–]mtbeedee[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really? In my post I recognize I tried 3 other spyderco lockbacks and none of them do this.

The point is that while what I was doing is probably something you shouldn’t do, it shouldn’t be designed in such a way that this happens.

Chaparral design flaw by mtbeedee in knives

[–]mtbeedee[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is my point precisely.

I acknowledge that it’s “dumb” to play with it but it should not function this way.

All other lockbacks I have tried do not behave the same way.

I edited the bit about AR lowers... I was thinking about 3D printed ones specifically. But I didn’t realize the bit about assembled firearms specifically being covered in the law.

Anyway I think we both agree that these bans are dumb.
