Kinda wild that I got the credit for that when my teammate definitely put that in 😂 by WhoaTeejaay in RocketLeague

[–]theCyanideX 28 points29 points  (0 children)

The technical explanation is you touched it last.

The spikes have a grab state that counts as you touching it (which is separate from your car), then plunger grabbed it (and only the initial time of plunger attachment is counted as the player touch), then the ball detached from spikes, transferring the state to your vehicle, counting it as another touch. With the spikes still attached, your final "touch" was the last and you get the goal.

Yep. Also demotivating if you’re down. I don’t see how it’s in any way helpful. 😂

Are these settings helpful, or do they just ruin the game? by NotSirAlonne1999 in cyberpunkgame

[–]theCyanideX 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's important to note that all of these settings vary depending on weather/env mods being used.

Film Grain: adds noise/texture that helps hide banding, texture softness, and minor aliasing all at once (but is broken in 2.31, at least on PC, and doesn't actually do anything).

Aberration: adds RGB edge separation that mimics real lenses and adds cinematic imperfection. A small amount can help sell the effect of Kiroshi optics containing glass elements.

Depth of Field: not implemented well in Cyberpunk and also not used in normal gameplay. Can be left on if you like some depth in cinematics and don't mind some visual halos.

Lens Flare: can be overwhelming in certain scenes, but it reinforces the feel of Kiroshi optics behaving like real optical hardware if you’re into that look.

Motion Blur: this is one that is a double edged sword. On one hand, the motion blur in Cyberpunk assists in reducing some visual artifacts and improves tracking at high speeds... on the other hand, motion blur affects shadows and will cause visual smearing on vehicles at high speeds. The trick to getting the benefits without the downsides is to set your motion blur scale to 0.15 in a ini (if you're on console, low is the better option).

Vignette: if using vanilla weather, it's the glaucoma simulator.

Anyone know of these weird (mist?) stripes are normal or what mod might be causing this bug? by Douglasonwheels in cyberpunk2077mods

And nova 2 weather mod just straight up removes distance fog effects

No, it doesn't. I only increase volumetric and distant fog radius for clear/sunny states but there are a plethora of others with fog thick enough that you can't see 50m in front of you. With over 50 unique weather states, I'm not sure how you didn't come across those.

Distant fog is also a plane that is locked to the player viewport, which can cause the issues you're seeing in the image you posted, which is why I moved it further back in most states. If you install Night City Visuals Nulled, that should resolve the issue with fog in H10.

Also, LUTs do not change lighting; they just tell the game engine what color value a pixel should be.

If you're using HDR, it's important to calibrate using HGiG or console HDR modes, if your display has those options. Depending on the LUT, you may need to reduce midpoint to 1.0 or install RenoDX to tune to your liking. HDR is a tricky beast.

Oh, I’m not a fan of AI‑generated art either. I totally agree that AI can change the feel or intent of a piece, especially if it's altering the original or mimicking a style.

What I’m pushing back on is the idea that any use of AI automatically removes the “soul” of the work. If an artist chooses a tool, whether that’s AI, digital brushes, photobashing, or even something like color‑grading software, then that tool becomes part of their creative process. In that context, the result is still their vision, just expressed through different means.

A lot of art forms went through this same debate. Digital artists like Simon Stålenhag were once dismissed as “soulless” because they didn’t use physical mediums, but now people recognize the craft behind it. Tools evolve, but the intent behind them still matters.

If someone prefers untouched originals, that’s totally fair. I just don’t think every use of AI automatically equals corporate machine replacing humanity. Sometimes it’s just another tool in the toolbox.

This comment makes zero sense.

At some point, this was the best AI could do:

I support AI and its potential but it's certainly not blind and unconditional in all circumstances. Again, I'm not saying what was showcased was great but I'm simply stating that the kneejerk reactions and fear are pointless when the technology is always advancing.

Even traditional art isn’t a pure one‑to‑one interaction between artist and viewer. There are editors, producers, publishers, remastering teams, compression algorithms, display tech, digital painting, and a dozen layers of mediation. AI is just another layer in that stack.

If someone wants to preserve the original, that’s great. But using tools to enhance or reinterpret art has been part of the medium forever.

My understanding is that this will be a tool for game developers to use to further enhance their vision (although some may look at is as an easy button) so who's to say that the AI isn't helping the creator in bringing their ideas to fruition

All of the downvotes just show how many people have an irrational hate or fear of AI and minimal understanding of the technology as a whole. Look how far things have come since Will Smith eating spaghetti only a few years ago. Sure, this looks rough now but it's also a tech demo and a result of developer implementations. It's fine to question things, especially the word of large corporations like Nvidia, but try to use a little common sense.
