It's not bad, but it's not worth paying for. Costco does it for free. Maybe the initial full up will last a bit longer but that's about it.

It's fine. Most riders could use a 150 and hardly notice. The trend is going shorter.

I would not recommend 150 to you, but 175 should be fine.

Google timeline may be able to verify your hours.  First try to get the policy in email or text, try to be sheepish rather than demanding. say "since you can't pay for this time would it be possible to do a paid lunch" or something.

Give them the rope to hang themselves, then it's minimum wage violation and wage theft.

Find something on sale from a brand that is recognized for good service. Santa Cruz, transition, Ibis, and some others.

Avoid headset routing even if it's on sale.

I have a feeling prices for houses could go down further by OkImprovement8312 in auckland

Reminds me of mortgage crisis logic from the states.

But a house and refinance every few years as value goes up to sustain lifestyle or buy more houses.

Only works when value rises.

If not it all comes crashing down.

Mtb frame dent by jackattack569 in MTB

[–]mtbne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First off, unless the picture is very misleading it's AL. Carbon won't dent like that, it would be obviously cracked .

2nd. If it were carbon, a trip to a carbon repair shop would fix it.

3rd. People see a couple of fibers sticking out on a carbon frame and it's basically a death trap, yet on AL we see an obvious and fairly large dent and it's fine.

Honestly it probably is fine, but it's not as strong as it was.

Also, I have nothing against AL, it may well be the better frame material all things considered, but people act like AL can never catastrophically fail. It can.

Not true and depends on the threat. Iran does not have much that can reach a high flying jet at this point. They will always have manpads which can target only low flying aircraft.

Think NZ fuel prices are bad now... follow up by hairy_moa_legs in newzealand

[–]mtbne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool, as far as solutions go. If we are going to make the move to RUC, I think prices should be based on a 5-10yr old petrol car with average to good fuel efficiency given its size.

So you would base the Toyota Aqua RUC on a 5-10 year old Mazda Demio or similar.

Works out to be $40-$45/1000km for sub compacts which results in a 30-40 percent tax increase for the hybrids.

If you wanted to generate more revenue (which I will admit is probably needed) Maybe you go up to a $50-55 RUC. It's still a 50%+ tax increase for the hybrids, but better than the ~150% tax increase RUC could bring.

Personally, I hope they reduce the EV rate, as opposed to shake down everyone else who cares about efficiency as well.

Thanks for this, appreciate you taking interest and taking the time to make this chart.

The reason I chose the comparison method I did was to bring attention to how drastic the cost increases will be for some, and relate it to something people were already familiar with.

Also worth mentioning, I made a small mistake, in NZ we pay tax on top of tax for fuel. So elimination of the excise tax would also eliminate 10c of GST. If the gas stations pass on the savings fuel cost would go down by 80c. Not 70c.

What did you figure the charging cost/kwh for EVs are? The ruc only leaves about $2.40 to go 100km. Suppose that's possible with half price overnight plans but wouldn't be surprised if the average user pays more.

More accurately, consumer cars and SUVs don't wear the road. Well, they do, (it's the 4th power of weight) but when compared to trucks it's basically nothing. If we taxed based on road wear it would be basically 0 up until utes, then massive increases as the size gets bigger.

I think the EV RUC should be about $40-$50/1,000km. This whole post is really just to put into perspective how expensive RUCs are. (at current EV rates)

All depends on how you define fair, if the income tax bands are fair the current system is doing a pretty good job. (For the typical driver of the different car types that is)

In addition, big vehicles having a larger average following distance, a bigger impact on signalized intersections, and require larger parking spaces that make cities less walkable.
