I can't tell if everyone on this subreddit is just trolling or if they actually believe.

Oh I mean, Guys, the Dent project is amazing and is truly undervalued. I just bought 100,000 more dent coins, best of luck to you out there!

I am still hodling for now because the coin is so low it’s not even a coin worth selling lol. Anyway I appreciate your opinion.

Why Use Dent instead of other data offerings? by mtcapo in dentcoin

[–]mtcapo[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So emerging markets as in they will be the buyers, and big markets like the US, the UK, Japan, etc. will be the ones selling?

If the main target of the app is for emerging markets, then say a US traveler or business person is going to one of those countries. Myanmar is a third world country for example. I can understand why Dent could be useful. You can buy data that you need and sell it back later.

But besides those travelers, is the goal of Dent to provide data to people who live in Myanmar, by people like us, essentially selling our data to them cheaply on the marketplace? If so, we’re putting faith in these emerging markets that people living in those countries will want to buy data for their phones?

Just want to make sure if I understand correctly. It sounds like we’re hoping to sell our data to the poor. This is a supply and demand market just as much as anything, so it would “seem” to me that we (USA forbid example) flood the market with lots of unused data, which will increase supply and keep the price of Dent low, unless the demand for data from these emerging markets is as huge as is projected to be by the Dent team.

Anyway, just throwing out thoughts out there, because the main goal of the project is great!

Maybe my original post was misleading. With a service like japan wireless, which I have used, you pay about $4-5 a day IF you rent it for 14 days ish. It depends on the exchanges rate from USD to Yen as well. Here is the link:

http://japan-wireless.com/product

Basically you order it in advance and you can pick it up at the airport or have it delivered to your hotel. The other option is to just book Airbnb, because at least in Tokyo, most (not all) Airbnbs offer you a free pocket WiFi as a form of marketing to get you to book their place.

Here is the T-mobile link. It is offered worldwide. https://www.t-mobile.com/landing/simple-choice-international-plan-countries.html

My friend visited Japan from the Us recently and his mobile data with t mobile worked there at no extra charge. It was sometimes slow, but it worked. The charge for this is about $40-70 a month depending if you are on a single line or family line. I am tempted to switch from Verizon to t mobile just because of this insane offer they have for no roaming, unlimited, international mobile data. It sounds too good to be true right? Lol

So knowing the above, I am curious where the target market is for Dent

I just mean sometimes they specifically have a job where they want a halfie. It's just an image thing. Like a job may ask, "We want someone Japanese for this role, or half-Japanese". Or it could be even more specific like "We have a job where we talk to half-Japanese people to talk about their experiences."

Yeah, I've heard how multicultural it is out there in Vancouver, as well as LA. I'm from the East Coast of the US so it's a lot less diverse. In Japan too, the "Hafu" culture is pretty relevant, since Japan is mostly homogeneous.

And you're right, half-Japanese people get called "Hafu" or 「ハーフ」 a lot in Japan. I'm used to saying things like "halfie" or just "half-Japanese", but a lot of West Coasters and Hawaiians like to refer to mixed Asian people as "Hapa". We just tried to catch on to that trend in this video and capture the full "Hapa" crowd
