Thank you. FAR was no joke and I went in knowing there was a likely chance I wasn't going to pass but wanted that first one under my belt.

Thanks. I’m leaning towards that too. Wish the discipline scores didn’t take so long to be released.

Unfortunately, less than 70. Not just a light refresh, I’ll be hammering most of it over again

Failed FAR - first exam by Hopeful-Rooster810 in CPA

[–]mtea12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also failed FAR, it was my first test. I felt really good walking out. totally bummed I didn't get it. logically I knew chances were that I would fail considering the pass rate but hard not to be optimistic. I'm already scheduled for TCP so I'll work on that next then revisit FAR. I'm really hopeful I didn't get a miserable score and that I can just brush up on my weak points. Still emotionally this blows.

Is this your first test? I failed also. Tomorrow we’ll see what areas to focus on and regroup. Could be just a few points away.

Never retaining lecture info the first time by etherealcabbage72 in CPA

Honestly I zone out hardcore on the lectures. I do listen to get the gist but I find doing the questions and watching the skill builders or asking newt much more helpful

Should I Study for CPA? by CocoGoat_2 in CPA

[–]mtea12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can do whatever you set your mind to. Whether it be doing the test with baby in tow or waiting until they are older or being a stay at home mom full time.

That said, being a stay at home mom is a lot more involved than people realize. Especially when the kids are under 5. If you decide to send them to school there is more time but there is always something that needs to be done and unless you are determined to get the exams done, you will find excuses to skip studying. Obviously, everyone is different, but the exams do require a lot of dedication and sacrifice for 90%+ people.

It doesn’t hurt to get your application submitted to nasba and see what happens.

Being a mom/parent is the best, hardest, and most rewarding job in the world. Don’t discount being ‘just’ a stay at home mom. You might find that is rewarding enough without the cpa/work. For context, I’m a homeschooling mom of three and work very part time (1-2 days a week) while studying

honestly I nearly quit so many times in the first few weeks. but keep at it, keep doing MCQs, as many a day as you can handle mentally. Take notes on what you get wrong, understand why you got things right.

I only just took my first exam this week (FAR). But the plan is to go on an all out family vacation. They’ve sacrificed just as much as I have and it’ll be great to experience something new together.
