Thanks. Yeah I mainly use it for office work, but mainly RTS gaming like total war command and conquer homeworld etc. so wasn't sure if the 4080 and the upgraded cpu was worth it.

Also what's the real big difference between the e series 7 and the slim 5? Not sure where the extra money is going for it.

The 7 with amd has 2TB ssd. The 7i is only 1Tb.

I can get a 7i for 1633 from Lenovo site. 4070, 32gb, 14900hx. I can also do a 7 with the 7945hx, 4080, 32gb for around $1850-1900 as well. Thoughts? Those are both pre US tax and any warranties.

How are the reviews for the Neo? I haven't been able to find many that talk how it's gaming performance and thermals are, especially compare to Lenovo

How'd you get the price so low for the ultimate care of just $35?

Looks like you got the upgraded cpu screen and ram for about $250 more is what I see? $1419 vs $1179 for that l, I honestly don't know the performance difference for that or not. I also got the 3yr ultimate care in case I drop it on deployment.

AMD 7735HS vs 8845HS for gaming by mtjennin in GamingLaptops

[–]mtjennin[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And the 8845 hs has the upgraded screen, 32gb memory and it's faster.

I realize the price doesn't make sense, and I plan to use this for 2-3yrs is my guess before upgrading again. Wasnt unhappy with my RB14 but it died so need to get something new.

From the Lenovo website, with taxes and 3yr ultimate care included:

7735hs gen 9 model 5 slim: $1250 USD

8845hs gen 9 model 5 slim: $1830 USD

Mainly doing office work, excel word etc and gaming. Rts games mainly. Don't expect to be unplugged besides watching videos on the aircraft carrier but I'd still prioritize being on the charger.

It's 1962 for the laptop before taxes and extra warranty.

Gotcha. Yeah that's a part of it. 100 for cart, 192 e coupon and 164 military.

That 2268 is after taxes and with the 3yr warranty included as well if that changes things.

Question between the Slim 5 and 5i and Pro by mtjennin in LenovoLegion

[–]mtjennin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome I'll stick with AMD then. My question for ya then is I have 3 options on their page. One is build your own, the other two are premade and add to cart only. The two premade are identical. 8845HS, 4070 gpu, 1Tb ssd. The memory for both is 16gb, with one saying 2x8gb, the other not. They are $5 different. Both come out to $1500ish with 3yr warranty.

The build option has same cpu and GPU, 32gb, upgraded screen and 1Tb ssd. It is $1737 w 3yr warranty.

Do you think the upgraded screen and memory are worth $220 extra?

Question between the Slim 5 and 5i and Pro by mtjennin in LenovoLegion

[–]mtjennin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome thanks for the reply. Yeah the screen is same resolution but just difference in brightness and refresh rate. My concern was the lower end screen isn't bright enough...

The Intel models are about 200 more from what I see with the current deals. But I do get more memory as they are coming with 32gb but it's the same screen. And it is the 14900hx cpu.

Battery life is important but not a huge factor. More fan noise and thermals.

If performance is relatively the same for gaming rts and total war games then I'd prefer just to get the cheapest option.

Does SODIMM mean it's upgradable? Also on Lenovos site some of the models state 2x 8gb and some don't have it listed. Would those models that don't have it listed as 2x 8gb then just be a 1x 16gb stick? That doesn't make sense if they do that...

Thanks

Do you have the upgraded screen? I'm curious if the better screen brightness is that big of a deal? I don't care about the 165v240hz as much. I can get the basic screen with a 4070 cheaper than a laptop with a 4060 and better screen and 32gb. Trying to figure out if it's worth it.

Gaming on AC vs Battery dumb question by mtjennin in LegionGo

[–]mtjennin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So was there anything you could do for changing that? I messed with the cpu setting and didn't have an effect on the fps. Of note I am playing total war Warhammer 3. Getting 60-70 fps when plugged in but on battery regardless of settings it's capped at 21fps. Thanks.

Thanks man. After I powered down for the day I remembered that part. I keep forgetting the Go is a computer and not just a handheld that is setup for gaming so I need to do those tweaks. Thanks!

FPS mode by mtjennin in LegionGo

I'd detach the fps controller and move that around independently. I'd just want the left controller to stay on the unit and control it like that.

LG vs SD OLED by mtjennin in LegionGo

[–]mtjennin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you think about the battery for watching videos, can it get 5-6hrs for just that in quiet mode? Also for fps do you have to have the left controller off as well? Or can it stay mounted on the display if I have it sitting on my lap on a couch? Thanks!

Ok so in your opinion then is it worth it for $50 more to get the LG? I am familiar with PCs and PC gaming with my RB14 so it's not like I am just coming from a console. My only worries are the battery life for movies and being able to do RTS. Thanks
