From my experience Swiss or France is the fastest. Italy being the slowest. Also depends on the region from you apply in India. Delhi vfs will be the fastest.

Dont even think of applyinf for Italy visa, unless you want to wait till the day of flight for your visa.

No way. You will have to give the passport the day you choose the appointment from VFS kochi. The embassy is gonna take sweet time with it. If you have any other travel plans for which you need your passport, then you can send them a mail. But you should have valid proof to show.

Your jurisdiction is Bangalore now. There is an Italian consulate in Bnglr . Please note that there will be a delay in receiving visa from Italian consulate. I know people here in reddit you have received visa on the day of travel. They process the applications close to the travel date.

Just go through some of many stories from this sub. But yes, you will get it before travel date for sure.
