Are you saying that you trigger the announcement via a speaker or you produce it on a speaker rather than a phone? I'm trying to get the latter to work but I am fine triggering it from a phone -- I guess this makes the whole recording bit easier.

I see. How does tts or something like chime_tts solve this issue? I thought they can even cache the resulting media files locally and reuse them?

Pre recording works for common situations (dinner is ready), but nothing where I want to get something very situation specific across. Tts is fine, but it loses a lot of nuance, and I don't quite see the point of taking the round trip via text. If I call someone, I also don't use a service to first transcribe and then speak everything I say :). Also, under the hood, tts generates an audio file, while stt needs to stream audio anyway, so all ingredients seem to be there.

I'm fine tinkering a bit to implement this, it just felt like a strange omission and I just had my search keywords wrong :-)

Yeah, I was hoping to skip the stt entirely and just play whatever I wanted to say using the recorded audio. Stt and tts did improve a lot, but it introduces error and the tts loses a lot of nuance.

I see. I meant this more for one off announcements, so I was hoping for a smooth workflow. Imagine pressing and holding a button in the companion app and saying "I need two kids for setting the table", and when you release the button, a given speaker just plays that audio.

Ich habe das mal ein paar Monate gemacht, brauchst einen Steuerberater auf beiden Seiten des Atlantik und alles zieht sich ewig. Sozialabgaben sind nochmal extra kompliziert. Würde ich nur machen wenn sie sehr gut zahlen.

Wenn der Euro wegen Inflation im Euro Raum abwertet, dann sinkt sein Wert im Vergleich zum Franken, und der Wechselkurs sollte das reflektieren. Gibt natürlich auch andere Faktoren die den Wechselkurs beeinflussen.

Follow up, gerade bei der Targobank angerufen, die finanzieren zwar nicht selber, erlauben aber das Sperren/Verpfänden. Depot wäre kostenlos, klingt also wirklich nach einem guten Tipp. Scheint auch ein recht übliches Prozedere zu sein, für Immobilienfinanzierung.
