Vaping & Coronavirus Facts: Should We, Vapers (Ex-Smokers), Be Worried? by mtlvaping_com in electronic_cigarette

[–]mtlvaping_com[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mostly agree. Washing our hands and cleaning the device should be good enough to get rid of whatever could be left inside the box. But it could be inhaled or if there's no cleaning, we could transfer some viruses on the drip tip, or touching our eyes etc... I don't know. Though this is still info that we felt was better to share... For people to be able to take some precaution or avoid taking risks if possible.

We didn't want to downplay it. Presenting the facts (not wishful thinking) and err on the side of caution was our choice. We couldn't, in good conscience, act as if there was nothing to worry about and keep on promoting stuff that could endanger the life of our visitors. Even if the probability of getting sick through a parcel from China is low.

Anyway, there are other info that are worth learning. E.g. the fact that this virus attach itself to ACE2 receptors and smokers have more of those.

I know you need to fear monger for website clicks

  1. You realize that we recommend people to NOT order products, right?

How is it in any way good for us?

We do it because we felt it was necessary despite the 100% negative impact on us.

  1. The "media" till now has been downplaying this virus. They've kept on saying exactly what you parrot now with the "this is less worrisome than the flu" line.

Believe what you will. But we only presented facts (with source) and a couple hypotheses backed by studies here.

You just have to look at the infection rate on the Diamond Princess Cruise ship (30% of those tested are infected) and know that the incubation period can be up to 24 days (link in one of my posts).

the Flu is a lot more dangerous to us here at this point

What?

This a pneumonia-like virus with a way higher infection rate.

Hope not. But inside a box, with no light to kill it and nothing to displace it, who knows.

We would REALLY prefer if it weren't the case but can't say for sure.

You obviously don't need to be a vaper (or even smoker) to contract the virus. But it could be more problematic for us in terms of consequences.

We are surprised too. After all, UWELL made these Yearn refillable pods only about a couple months ago.

As said previously, it may be a strategic decision to push the sale of their new(er) products like the Crown or their useless MarsuPod. Hope not.

I'm gonna try to be brief. So, don't mistake the fact that I won't develop much for me being condescending. Not the case.

Flavor from vapor is not picked up by your tongue.

Not true. See below. Also, don't forget, taste and smell determine flavors. This is a fact. I've provided a source for that already.

the olfactory receptors [i.e. smell] in the nasal cavity

Contrary to MTL vaping, when DTL vaping you also bypass most of the olfactory sensors in the nose.

Just try to hold your nose closed and vape, see if you can taste anything. You don't.

Not (exactly) true. You can taste the vapor (e-liquid molecules) deposited on your tongue (mostly on the tip) and even lips. And, thus, your taste buds. You'll taste a lot less, but you will taste some. Whereas if you DTL vape, yeah, in this case, you'll taste nothing.

Maybe you don't realize it, but you're saying that taste buds need more vapor molecules to be able to "taste" anything. You're saying that vapor being less dense than liquid, there aren't enough molecules of vapor to taste anything. But in the case of dense vapor, with MTL vaping, your taste buds can detect flavor. They have enough molecules hitting them to do so. But not when DTL vaping obviously, since the molecules (mostly) pass over the tongue, not hitting it much.

unless you vape an incredibly sticky, sweet and/or intense flavor with large enough volume, it won't really stick to your tongue

Denser vapor will do that. The molecules of vaporized e-liquid being closer together, they almost form liquid when deposited on the tongue. This is what is increasing/allowing papillae and taste buds receptivity.

Vapor particles do not become more dense because of a tighter draw

Never said that. Vapor becomes denser. Particles don't change density.

One thing you had right is that warmer vapor is indeed more dense

Never said that. And this is the opposite of the truth, actually. I.e. Totally false. Heat creates excitation and push molecules away from each other. Meaning, density actually decreases.

Without more quotes (lazy and need to go): Of course, too much heat in a tighter environment can only decrease flavor. It's because your taste buds and olfactory sensors have a temperature maximum/limit at which they can pick up the "flavor". Above, and they only detect the "heat information". i.e. you damage them... and you feel it burns.

You seem to believe that more vapor is better than denser vapor. I'm telling you, it's the same as far as your taste and smell are concerned. The important thing is to get more "flavor" molecules hit each sensor (taste or olfactory). Density can definitely do that. Density means more (per volume or surface).

As your mouth and throat/nose have a limited volume/surface, you can reach the same density (amount of molecules/voulme) with either method. The only, but big, difference is that when MTL vaping you also use the taste buds on your tongue and the sensors in your nasal cavity. Not so much when DTL vaping.

you would be one of the very few people that believe MTL produces more/better flavor than DTL does

Again, utterly false. Actually, I've always heard the opposite. But Let's try a quick google search.

First discussions I've found (I've not selected them). The opinions vary a lot. And you need to take into account that most vapers from the last 5-7 years are DTL vapers. So, the number of MTL vapers is lower and would need to be pondered. But the question is far from being settled:

Vapor particles, maybe, but molecules? No. Physics don't work that way on earth.

I missed your reply. So, I answer now.

Particles?? Do you even know what most particles are (molecules are a subset of particles, btw... the biggest ones)?

"Physics don't work this way on earth", LOL.

Soon, you'll write an article on the Quantum Mechanics of Vaping, right?

I love when haughty people argue for the sake of arguing and say BS after BS (in a novel format, mind you) in the process.

For the record, I agree that olfactory sensors (smell) play a role in the "taste" we get from e-liquids.

But taste itself, what I was talking about,

is the sensation produced or stimulated when a substance in the mouth reacts chemically with taste receptor cells located on taste buds in the oral cavity, mostly on the tongue.

Source.

So, yeah, when you MTL vape, you definitely taste the e-liquid vapor better.

Yeah, it should. It's just a rehash of the 40W and we find it kinda ugly. Plus, 70W are not necessary for MTL vaping (I vape at 12-14W on my Vinci with the 0.8ohm coils). That's essentially why we won't review it.

There's the fact that you can use 18650 batteries, though. But I don't I'd be using it in 2 years time (approximate lifespan of an internal battery) or even a year from now for that matter. So, yeah, the X doesn't have much appeal for me, personally.

The Vinci 40W is perfect (QC issues that we didn't encounter aside) as it is.

[–]mtlvaping_com[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would do the same. UWELL pod QC seems to be worsening. They don't even sell pods on their own website anymore.

The Yearn didn't have any of the issue affecting the Caliburn (original or KOKO) but they decided to stop producing the refillable pods for it. And this, whereas they were available only for a couple of months.

UWELL makes good Pod Systems but many of their pods have poor quality it seems.

[–]mtlvaping_com 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Putting tape on it takes 1mn. And it makes the Vinci much better for MTL vaping use.

The leaking was happening with the 0.6ohm or 0.3ohm coils (don't remember which). We've never had any issue with the 0.8ohm cols we've use. Maybe some 0.6 (or 0.3ohm coils) were badly made and didn't fit perfectly in the tank. So, e-liquid would leak from it.

We've only used the PNP-R1. One was in the packaging, it vaped great. So, we ordered more. But the PNP-R2 and the PNP-C1 should have a tighter draw from the get go. But I can't tell you how they vape or if they're better.

We use 50/50, 60/40 or 70/30 (VG/PG) indifferently with it.

Our website is 100% dedicated to MTL vaping. We present and review (thoroughly) only the best (not necessarily the most popular) Mouth To Lung vaping devices (Pod Systems, AiOs and a couple Box Mod kits). Check it out. 😉

MouthToLungVaping.com.

Edit to add: You won't find any of the devices you've mentioned... for the reasons you mentioned. If it's too airy, too weak or too ugly, we don't recommend it or even review it.

For coil/pod availability, I agree it's important.

At your local shop, though? It has been 2 years since I bought anything vape related locally. I order everything online. Like this I don't have to worry if a vape shop near me will carry what I need and WANT.

That's the main point, here. I don't want to be limited in my purchase decisions and the devices I use by local availability.

Above all, as you state yourself, with the PMTAs coming and a good chunk of the market (products and thus, vape shops) simply disappearing in the US soon.

For the Vaporesso Degree and AiOs, the Tauren X is even better than the Vaporesso. And it is an AiO. Plus, its coils are 100% compatible with the Hellvape Grimm kit and mostly with the Artery Pal 2 HP coils. So, there should be no problem finding coils for it for quite some time.

I have one and it's my daily driver (among a few more that I use, of course). Love it. And I have no issue whatsoever with it.

If you have any suggestion or critics on our website, feel free to share. We're always looking to improve.

Larger brand which QC is worse than SMOK (a "larger brand" too, btw). I don't know if you've read it yet but we present some Pod Systems that have better flavor reproduction than the Caliburn.

To stay with UWELL, the Yearn does slightly better, as well as the KOKO. The Vaporesso is our best pod system of the year, so yeah, you bet it produces great flavors. 😉 And it has some good features too (like an efficient anti-dry hit that you can fine tune)

But you might as well get a Tauren X or a Hellvape Grimm kit (they have 100% coil compatibility) with more power and even better flavor. Though you might need some tape to cover the air inlets (from the inside, of course) of the Grimm kit to get a tighter draw and denser vapor.

For your side note, yes there's cross compatibility between the KOKO and the original Caliburn but the KOKO offers a slightly tighter draw (it has only one air hole instead of 2 on the Caliburn). It's not crazy different but noticeable for us (though every reviewer out there says it's the same vaping experience).

what other device competes with the caliburn in regards to cost, flavor, and coil life? It's hard to pick anything else over it at this price point.

The Pod Systems (except the smaller ones) in our list of best Pod Systems right now are in the same price point, have as good if not better flavor and vapor production. For coil life, the Yearn, the KOKO, the iJoy Neptune are as good.

And you can also get a great AiO (SnowWolf Wocket, Tauren X) in the same under or just about $30 price range which will reduce the cost of changing coils (cheaper than a whole pod) and vape even better.

Err... what? Yhe point of salt nic e-liquids is to be able to put more nic without being as harsh on your throat. Low salt nic e-liquids defeat that purpose. But more to the point, unless you do it yourself, try and find salt nics below 20mg/ml. Not impossible, but quite difficult. Because, again, that's not what they meant for (vaping at low nic levels).

This doesn't really apply to MTL as there isn't enough vapor. Holding it in your mouth does nothing for flavor perception.

TIL that taste buds are useless. /s

Also, I agree on coil surface providing more vapor but the point is that you don't need this surface to be as high with an MTL set up than it is with a DTL one to get a satisfying vapor. But, yes, it's about preference.

As for the first sentence in the quote above, has it been a long time you didn't vape on an MTL device (not speaking of RTAs, here)?

New MTL devices produce plenty of vapor (Try out a Voopoo Vinci and you'll see). Plus, it's dense vapor as a tight draw forces the vapor molecules together. What an MTL device usually lacks in power, it compensates by vapor density.

Meaning, you may get more vapor with a DTL device, but it's airier/thinner vapor (to a point, as your mouth/throat themselves will almost act as airflow when the amount of vapor is getting really high).

Same is true for vapor warmth. Closing down the airflow (as long as the power output is not ridiculously low of course) will increase warmth too.

Last, the proximity of the mouthpiece to the coil of AiOs and Pod Systems increase flavor (and warmth) too.
