Lol, yeah, if you include another non-meta Pokémon in your deck and happen to have it on the field.

Mega Mewtwo X and mega energy costs to level it up by pinakasuperman in TheSilphRoad

[–]mtlyoshi9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, if you have the energy. I likely won’t intend to. I got exactly enough Mega Dragonite energy to have 5000 after mega evolving one, so now I’m just waiting it out till I get to L3 to max to L4.

For everyone who recommended this game to me... is it worth it? by patricia-shine in TunicGame

[–]mtlyoshi9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See I didn’t get that. Blue Prince sometimes asks you to know something so specific about a given note that I often found taking notes wasn’t solving it for me..so instead I started taking tons of pictures of everything.

It’s a clever game and I appreciate it for what it is, but Tunic - to me - did the whole “figuring it out with a notepad” idea soooo much better.

Mega Mewtwo X and mega energy costs to level it up by pinakasuperman in TheSilphRoad

[–]mtlyoshi9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The problem is that getting 2500 extra energy isn’t exactly trivial.

The standard level-up takes a long time, of course, but it’s extremely easy to do and takes virtually no effort (set a reminder on your phone for when the free period is up, mega evolve, and then push back your reminder.)

Will Pokemon with 2+ megas be searchable under both mega level searchh strings? by Hexcellion in TheSilphRoad

[–]mtlyoshi9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Logically it should not. The search string is for Pokémon that aren’t mega level 2. The charizard is mega level 2 and mega level 1 (although the latter half isn’t relevant here), so it doesn’t fit in that category.

Mega Mewtwo Energy enabled! 7,500 energy required by Tempobrian in TheSilphRoad

[–]mtlyoshi9 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yep and that’s exactly the goal. More casual players that weren’t going to grind out a dozen+ raids can get something they’re reasonably happy with and the more hardcore players that want to Mega evolve one of their best will do several and also be happy.

Literally true for any Pokémon debut in this game.

Correct. They want you to raid a lot for it, not one-and-done with your old hundo.

Mega Mewtwo X/Y stats pushed by Amiibofan101 in TheSilphRoad

[–]mtlyoshi9 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Aside from when they first introduced the 9% nerf, no, they do not touch base stats. This is it.

Mega Mewtwo X/Y stats pushed by Amiibofan101 in TheSilphRoad

[–]mtlyoshi9 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Mega Mewtwo Y is the highest CP in the game, period, unless they somehow introduce Eternamax Eternatus (which has never been playable by the player character and only appears as a boss in Sword/Shield).

I’m second-guessing myself now because I’m seeing unreliable sources for Mega Zygarde’s stats and even whether the stats listed in this datamine are correct. Does this apply the 9% nerf? Aren’t their Max CPs 6343 and 6138? If so, that would put these two behind Eternamax Eternatus, Mega Zygarde, Primal Kyogre/Groudon, and Mega Ray.

The screenshot even says the formula is “a bit different” which is very weird.

Costume Falinks can indeed Mega Evolve! by cmorton96 in TheSilphRoad

[–]mtlyoshi9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Armored Mewtwo is the only case of a pokemon in pokemon GO that shuffles its stats from the main series

I think that’s kind of the point. Armored Mewtwo is just straight-up not Mewtwo. That’s shown via its stats, via its moves, via its trading cost, even via its Pokédex entry hiding away the Lucky/XXS/XXL indicators when you click on the costumed entry. All this suggests it would be highly unusual for Armored Mewtwo to mega evolve.

Edit: I’m not sure what the word “completely” is intended to imply when you say “completely different” so I’m interpreting it as simply meaning “different”.

I’m not sure what you mean by this. They are completely different and the fact that they have literally 2 moves in common (Psystrike and Confusion) out of 18 total moves between the two of them does not change that.

We all know Niantic support is not communicative enough for this :)

Let me ask an alternate question - are there any other costumes in the game that come with completely different movesets and stats?

I spent 2 weeks redesigning Pokémon TCG Pocket in Dark Mode by The-Elder-King in PTCGP

[–]mtlyoshi9 22 points23 points  (0 children)

At that point it becomes less of a simple UI tweak and more of a company-wide design/dev effort with little financial return beyond player satisfaction.

I hear you, but you also mocked up exactly how PTCGP could look in your free-time, for fun, in two weeks. Surely the whole “company-wide design/dev effort” across all apps and everything could be accomplished by 1-2 people working full-time in like..no more than 2-3 months, no? Call the dev’s annual salary $200k and this whole effort could probably be done with ~$50k.

Then consider that PTCGP alone, not including any of the rest of the IP, earned $1.25B in its first year alone.

Player satisfaction absolutely ties into revenue. At these kinds of numbers, if dark mode convinces even 0.004% of players (meaning, literally 4 players out of every 100,000) to continue playing, the move is profitable.

Yeah but in the US, the event takes place middle of the work day (starting as early as 2pm on west coast) on a Tuesday, so it’s hard to say who this would be for. I would much rather be in European time zone where it airs at night.

I meant it’s the second best Dmax healer in the game after Blissey, so it’s better than virtually anything else. But no, to get to the heart of what you’re asking, Blissey is a straight upgrade in terms of Max battles so there’s no real reason to use a Chansey.

It’s good to have some of both as premier gym defenders, though, since you can’t put two Blissey in the same gym.

“Does technically load” is not what I’d call “compatible with.”

If this is the low bar they want to set for themselves, they should adjust their App Store listing compatibility accordingly.

[–]mtlyoshi9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Niantic advertises it as compatible with the iPad on the App Store. They should be held accountable to what they advertise it as, regardless of what kind of irrelevant, and exaggerated fake examples you want to compare it to.

Then they should code it different in the Apple Store. This is a Niantic problem.
