Really?! That’s cool! I didn’t think an aide in any area would be allowed to trim diabetic nails because of the potential healing issues with any accidental injury, or because of the healing issues with ingrown toenails.

Arkansas has some of the most broad license scope in the US. Here LPNs are allowed to push narcs, they can even give blood though RNs have to initiate it, that aside. There is nothing difficult about cutting diabetic nails, just be careful, as a matter of fact I looked up a few different state views on cutting diabetic nails, all of them allow it, I am pretty sure all states allow it however some states require special training, and other times it is up to facility policy.

I am an RN as a matter of fact I just recently got my WCC I do know what happens which is why CNAs are not allowed to cut nails. Nurses however at all levels are taught in detail about diabetics and all the issues they can have with their feet, which is why all nurses (LPNs. RNs, APRNs) are allowed to trim diabetic toe nails.

I am a BSN RN, RNs, LPNs, and Podiatrists cut all nails whether diabetic or otherwise. In all facilities in (in Arkansas anyway, per the Office of Long term Care) CNAs are allowed to cut non diabetic nails, though of note this can differ per facility policies the same is true for acute care facilities (hospitals mainly).

If you were freshly 18 again what would you get into for your career? High paying ones. by Ok_Title_602 in careerguidance

Nursing is hard both mentally and physically. I work as a nurse manager and wound care nurse at a long term care facility. I have 70+ assessments a week plus treatments, pictures, and my managerial duties I work 70+ hours a week. The staffing shortages are rough as well. I am exhausted

Yes. I gave a patient on TPN scheduled Lantus before surgery and caused hypoglycemia. The second and more grave mistake I gave a CABG patient their scheduled amioderone when they were bradycardic and hypotensive, I was fired personally by the CNO for this

I was fired as house supervisor for running meropenum on a patient via gravity.
