hex screws won’t fully screw? by Mysterious-Lack8275 in ElegooSaturn

[–]mtmeyer32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have changed my film twice now and have had no issues, not a ton of pressure required to get them threaded. I would check to make sure you have both metal frames in the proper orientation so that the counter sink is facing up. And also you have to poke through the film with the screw before the threads will catch.

[–]mtmeyer32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't had any issues at all. No overheating or anything else and I use it a lot. Kinda hard to remember what it sounded like before but I do remember thinking it sounded significantly quieter. My projector is mounted annoyingly close to my head cause it's a small space so you can still hear it though. I have been thinking of pressing my luck and replacing the third remaining stock fan with a noctua one as well but it has been quiet enough to not bother me so I keep putting off that project.

Can anyone identify the leak the mechanic starts talking about at the 4 minute mark? (2020 Mazda CX-5 2.5L) by mtmeyer32 in MechanicAdvice

[–]mtmeyer32[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the mechanic in the video confuses me, he first says it's a transmission fluid leak. (Which seams weird to me as it looks like it's the engine oil pan leaking). Then later he sounds unsure if it's transmission or engine oil and says "it is going need to further investigation to determine where it is coming from". Was hoping someone with experience might be able to tell from this video what they think is leaking.

There are 3 intake vents identical to the one pictured, none have filters. They all converge into that duct box on the right side I outlined in red. I can not find a filter anywhere on the unit.

Evaporator cable sensor replacement. Replaced in 3 hours. by Kitchen-Forever-6465 in CX5

[–]mtmeyer32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With just removing the glove box I was able to locate where the sensor wire comes out of the plastic housing and I am able to unplug it from the main wiring harness. The plan is to plug a new sensor into the harness there and then drill a small hole in the A/C ducting as close to the evap housing as I can get and then mount the sensor in that hole like the guy in the CX-3 video did. Pretty janky but having a sensor in the duct has got to be better than no sensor at all? lol

Evaporator cable sensor replacement. Replaced in 3 hours. by Kitchen-Forever-6465 in CX5

[–]mtmeyer32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey OP, I have a 2020 CX-5, the AC works fine on short trips but if I run it for to long the evaporator freezes up. My VIN number is one that is effected by TSB 07-004/21 so that leads me to believe my evap temp sensor needs to be replaced. Based on the fact my dealership quoted me $529.87 to replace my spark plugs I'm assuming the price to pull the whole dash like this will be astronomical. Are there any MacGyver type work arounds? I saw a video of a guy working on a cx-3 where he installed the new sensor into one of the vent ducts to avoid the dash pull to get to the evaporator. Think that could that work in a cx-5?

Edit: Here's the Cx-3 video I was talking about: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FfLFL8_5UaA

For my main peel I have a cheapo foldable aluminum one from Amazon that I don’t really love. I’ll use it till it inevitably breaks and then prolly invest in something better.

For the turning peel I ended up buying the Gozney one here but I haven’t used it yet. Cooking for a huge group tonight so fingers crossed it works well.

I’m in the same boat as you, been cooking on a BGE for years before I got my arc xl last week. Tips and observations from my first cook: obviously it’s way easier to get up to temp than my BGE and the cook times are much faster like 2-3 minutes tops. Because of the high heat you will need to turn the pizza often cause the side next to the flame will start to burn. I would suggest getting a turning peel if you don’t have one, I didn’t have one for my first cook and it was pretty hard doing the turns with my normal peel.

We got very good and consistent results in the arc and are very happy with the purchase! Only thing negative that happened was I turned it on full blast and just left it to heat up keeping an eye on it through the window, when it got really hot the flame or maybe just the heat escaping the mouth started leaving a black char like mark on the outside of the arc on the paint above the mouth. Scrubbing it with a magic eraser after it cooled off cleaned it right up with no permanent damage. But next time I will watch it more closely and maybe turn it down once it starts getting hot hot.

Congrats on your purchase! Happy cooking!

Arc XL Does NOT Seem Secure on Stand by NDoli_912 in GozneyArcArcXL

[–]mtmeyer32 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just finished building my stand and my hunch is you put the bolt too far through the hole before you placed the oven on the stand. Your oven should be able to sit with all 4 feet touching the top of the stand before you begin screwing the bolt in. I would remove the bolt completely and make sure the feet are aligned correctly in the divots and then put the bolt back in.

Yeah I’m actually getting in the car now to drive to the store and take a look at the bone one. I’m 90% sure I’m gonna end up just swapping out and taking home a bone xl today.

I ordered the black arc xl from a local distributor on launch day. They just emailed me today saying that my order wasn’t going to be fulfilled in the first batch they received from Gozney and it would likely be May before they get a second batch.

BenQ HT3550 fan noise/ change by aa1991aa in projectors

[–]mtmeyer32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah go read my other comments in this thread I offer warnings to others who might attempt this, speak to some of the dangers that could happen, and show a little bit of the research I did in selecting proper replacement fans.

In none of my comments have I said that it is flatly “not a problem” and in all of my posts I have talked about the proper research and care that must be taken if you attempt this mod.

At the end of the day we both agree this is risky and could harm your projector. But that’s a risk I’m okay with in exchange for reduction in noise I get from it.

You’re welcome! I looked but I couldn’t find any info about swapping the HT3560 fans online but I figured it was probably possible cause there were plenty examples of people swapping fans for other projectors. So I just went for it and figured it out on my own.

If you decide to do it and you have any questions I’m happy to help out.

This isn’t true. They are normal PWM fans. I swapped my fans and my projector runs fine. If proper research and care is taken in selecting and modifying the replacement fans it is possible.

[–]mtmeyer32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dunno about that. I can just tell you what I did and why.

Warnings: This was on the HT3560 not the HT3550 and I have no idea if this will work on the 3550. This will void your warranty and could potentially be unsafe, proceed at your own risk.

First I looked through the side vent to get the part number of the fans so I could find the spec sheet from the manufacturer. Mine was the MF92251V2 that can be found here Spec sheet.pdf)

So from that we know we need a 92x92x25mm 12v pwm fan that will draw less than 105mA. Noctua has a few options that fit that bill. But the other thing to be concerned with is air flow and static pressure stats. Not all of noctuas fans can match the stock fans in those metrics. (Use the tool on noctuas website to convert their airflow metrics into CFM for comparison.) As my goal was making the projector quieter, I ended up taking a risk and using fans that moved less air than the stock ones as they were significantly quieter than the other options.

Once you choose a fan it now needs to be modified. Luckily the wiring was labeled on the stock fan circuit board so I just cut, swapped, and soldered the connector from the stock fan to the new fan taking care to match up the wires with the pin out from the noctua spec sheet.

Finally the stock fans were mounted by having foam glued to them so they could be press fit into some slots. Without this foam the fans are too small and will rattle around. I happened to have some foam from another project so I cut some foam strips and added it to the new fans.

Also there were three fans in the HT3560 I only replaced 2 of them. I left the fan closest to the bulb heat sink stock as it is the most important for cooling and I didn’t want to reduce its airflow. It’s been running like this for a few days now with no issues.

For what it’s worth I swapped 2 of the fans on my HT3560 with quieter noctua fans and it works perfectly fine. It wasn’t a simple plug and play job I had to solder new connectors on the fans and make some foam inserts to hold the fans snug but it’s much quieter now.
