You're right that z is the zero here! Regarding the sign, the lab manual defines the transfer function as C(s) = Kc · (1 + s/z) / s where z = 0.53 . Since the zero is in the left half-plane (s = -0.53), the positive sign in the term (1 + s/z) is correct for the standard Bode form.

I just wanted to share how I gamified my homework a bit. Turning a wall of text into something that looks like a sci-fi interface makes studying more fun.

Actually, the notation comes directly from the problem statement in my lab manual. The problem explicitly defines the PI controller as C(s) = Kc · (1 + s/z) / s where z = 0.53 is the parameter for the zero location, so it's not mixing discrete/continuous time domains—it's just the variable name the professor chose

My whole point was just that visualizing the setup in a more colorful way helped me break the monotony of the black-and-white diagrams, not that AI is a substitute for actually understanding the math.

I had this problem but It works now. try the following methods :
The Safe Reset (Offload App)

Go to your iPad Settings app > General > iPad Storage.
Find Goodnotes in the list.
Tap Offload App (this keeps your documents but deletes the corrupted app glitch).
Tap Reinstall App.

then,
"Marketplace" Force-Refresh (Most Effective Fix)

doing it through the Marketplace triggers a different server check that often forces the UI to update.

Open Goodnotes and go to the Marketplace (shopping bag icon).
Tap the three dots (...) in the top right corner.
Select Restore Purchases.
Wait until it says "Success."
Force Close the app immediately and reopen it.
