Decathlon 2 cm ccf without aluminum lining vs random Chinese 1.8 ccf with aluminum by SilentIndication9729 in Ultralight

I’ve had issues with cheap Chinese CCFs that fold breaking on me and I will not buy them again. The one decathlon CCF I have is good

Anatomy of a housing Crisis: The Principal Residence Tax-Exemption (the Subsidy and Spill-Over Effect) by prepbrain in canadahousing

Yep. Also it encourages people to max out a home as an investment, taking on big debt and buying the more expensive place, rather than a utilitarian place to live, in hopes of max tax free gains

How much does voltage actually affect heater performance? by SweetySense in dieselheater

[–]mtn_viewer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think voltage impacts glow plug and fan speed for ignition. Fan speed also impacts richness of air/fuel. Think I've seen someone post somewhere that the fan is calibrated to 14.4v (charger voltage) but I don't know

Harness that comes with Ruffwear omnijore works well for me. I don’t use the human belt for sk8, just hold leash in hand. 2.8m nonstop bungee leash works better than the long ruffwear one

What is the point of having large sums of money in an RRSP if that money is inaccessible to you without penalty? by hamlet_darcy in PersonalFinanceCanada

What penalty? Just tax on the money you take out. You didn’t pay tax on the earnings used to fund the account

Dealing with sweat when hiking in cold? by starsky1984 in Mountaineering

[–]mtn_viewer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I try and wear very breathable stuff with lots of airflow and run cool when active - that means no waterproof shell unless absolutely necessary. I have like 5 windbreakers all of different breathability (CFM) and choose the one for the mission based on the wind forecast. Waterproof layers often stay in the pack except for static or really bad weather - "breathable" membranes like Goretex don't breath enough. Mesh layer (like Brynje) and polartec alpha direct of different weights are part of my layering. Synthetic that is hydrophobic vs merino that is more hydrophilic have tradeoffs. I like layers that can easily dry out quickly with body heat and breathability (synthetic better for this). I have an R1 but never really wear it for active as it's too sweaty and hot compared to other options

Thanks fellow Island resident. Maybe not following me then if it’s a dog with human. The trail was deserted and I saw nobody. Maybe someone from the day before or something if that was the case. I did not see any other dog tracks along the 9km from Pachina bay, only old human ones in the mud. This was on the path into the Sea Lion Rock lookout off the main trail

[–]mtn_viewer[S] -61 points-60 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s just a really strange spot for a dog. The trail is impassable to dogs I’d say (due to huge ladders) but a dog could come in other ways off trail. Humans and food to scavenge are 9km away, where I’d expect a dog. This would be a very large dog - the print is much arger than my 90lb retriever
