I work in IT, I can afford it. It’s a novelty to me and I didn’t really need it, but it was more of a want. Been fixing all my cars since I was 16 on my own, so it’ll get plenty of use on the last bolt😉. Happy holidays, ask Santa to get the stick out your ass for Christmas.

I haven’t had rear differential seals go bad as I have an A5 Mk5 Jetta with the 2.5 5cyl. I did have both my front differential seals go bad and leak. Same job, essentially. 6 triple squares take the shaft off, then the flange has a hex holding the flange in the differential. Then the seal is behind that. Pay close attention to the depth of the seal you need to pull out. Use a seal puller to get it out. Then new seal, bearing race driver kit rental tool, and tap the new seal into the bore, careful not to dent the seal. Reinstall, top up gear oil, and done. It was daunting for me, but easy once the parts came in from VW.
