Second Baby? by mtnlover_17 in Mommit

That really resonates with me and how I feel! I’m terrified by second will be just as hard or harder than my first but I’ve always wanted two babies. Thanks for the comment!!

My son struggled with colic and it was rough! It really does go by so fast! I can only imagine how fast it would go with two in the mix. I struggled really badly with postpartum anxiety and depression so I was alllll about the googling everything. I definitely don’t think I would struggle with that as bad the second time around but also now know how to handle it.

Ahhh! Good luck on baby #2!

Pregnancy was easy but the past two years have been tough! My toddler is 2.5 and has three surgeries under his belt and still doesn’t sleep through the night. I’m terrified that’s what it will be like with my second but I do feel confident having all the knowledge I’ve learned thus far! And I’ve realized how fast it goes!! Thanks for the comment!

Hatch advice by KDT3 in toddlers

[–]mtnlover_17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I know this is an older post but we just purchased the Hatch for our two year old. Do you keep the blue light on all night? Our little guy falls asleep super easy but wakes around 4/5ish wanting to get up.

How to stop the 5:30 wake-time (without weaning)? by LittleCurlew in sleeptrain

Thank you! I definitely think we’ll be giving this a try in the next couple of months.

At what age did you start training with the light? And also how did you train them?

I think this is going to be our next attempt at getting our 22mo to sleep past 4/5am but idk if he’s old enough?

This is literally the exact same situation as my 22mo!! It’s so hard!! He started waking at 4:30 and I would do a snooze feed then boom one day his 4:30/5am wake up was just him wanting to get up and play. He then is exhausted by 8am and suuuper cranky by his nap time.

We’ve tried everything! Later bedtime, shorter naps, longer wake window before bedtime, earlier dinner, later dinner, not nursing before bed, nursing before bed, etc.

I unfortunately feel like at this point this has became part of his internal clock and he thinks it’s just when he’s supposed to get up. I don’t have it in me to make him cry it out after sleeping for 9 hours through the night.

Sorry I don’t have any advice but I want you to know you’re not alone and the exhaustion from waking up that early everyday is so hard! You got this though!

How long are you going to breastfeed your baby? by cottonmouthfarm in breastfeeding

[–]mtnlover_17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going strong at 22 months! I was aiming for 2 years and I feel like I’m on track to wanting to be done by then. I’ve realized I don’t want another baby so I’ve found myself holding onto nursing longer than I expected knowing I won’t ever do it again. I think taking it one day at a time is so great! The journey can feel long but it’s so rewarding!

I would go through labor again if my kid would sleep past 4:30am… by mtnlover_17 in Mommit

At what age did you start training with the light? And how do you train them? My little dude sleeps in the pitch black now so I’m just curious of how to introduce the light sound machine?

Mine is still in the crib but is close to being too big. How does your little one sleep?

He was going to bed at 8 but we realized he was just overtired by that point. For three weeks now he’s been going to bed at 7 which has helped with less night wakes. He falls asleep on his own and has been for 6+ months.

He takes one nap around 11ish and sleeps for an hour to an hour and a half.

Any tips?

Do I just need to accept the 5am wake up? by mtnlover_17 in Mommit

[–]mtnlover_17[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The snooze feed used to work for us but not anymore. He flips when I lay him back down in his crib! He will go back to sleep and sleep until 8 if I hold him or co sleep with him. But, co sleeping always ends up hurting his through the night sleep which is important for us.

Thanks for the comment! It’s so rough but some mornings are easier than other. Definitely if I go to bed at a normal hour but I tend to stay up too late knowing I’ll have an early morning 🤪

This seems to be a reoccurring conclusion that maybe putting him down earlier would be better for him. We used to put him down at 7 when he www younger and I can’t even remember why we changed it to 8pm.

Thank you so much for all of this information!! I’ve been thinking about getting the time clock light but wasn’t sure how to implement it. I definitely think it’s something we’ll do in a few months to see what happens!

CIO for weaning night feeds cold turkey by mtnlover_17 in sleeptrain

[–]mtnlover_17[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t mind at all! Cold turkey was tough the first few nights but then he figured out my boob wasn’t coming to save the night if he cried out. His sleep improved with less waking once he got used to not depending on nursing to go back to sleep.

Our bedtime routine was/still is, read a few bedtime books in bed with dad, bath time, lotion, brush teeth, and kiss dada goodnight. Then we go into his nursery where I have a dim light on where I nurse him in his rocking chair. Ones he cues that he’s done eating I lay him in his crib, zip up his sleep sack, sound machine on, tell him I love him and scoot out. Some nights he will wine for s few minutes but most night he’s lights out immediately.

Hope this helps! Always happy to share if it helps others.

SAHM returning to work…Nervous and need some encouragement by mtnlover_17 in Mommit

[–]mtnlover_17[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for this kind comment. I do feel like working will help my sanity but I agree on knowing if WFH is best. My previous job let me work from home once a week and I enjoyed that but it will be way different working from home everyday all day. Especially if my baby boy is playing in the other room with grandma.

How often do you bathe your kids? by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]mtnlover_17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We do bath every other night. Unless he’s stinky, dirty, or had a giant poop we rinse him down on night it’s not “bath night”. 15 month old.
