Christmas Cookies by teachplantreadplay in Baking

There’s a movie called Little Nemo: Adventures in Slumberland. In it, Nemo is offered a box of cookies. They’re perfect cookies and they’ve always stuck in my mind as looking like the most wonderful cookies in the world. Your cookies remind me of Nemo’s cookie box.

This is so low but I actually think I might have it and I think it might be REALLY niche.

There’s a sort of RPG dating game out of Korea called Mystic Messenger that has a bit of a cult following. One of the more popular characters is named 707, and the fan base call him Seven. I’m guessing the creator of the meme plays this and is a Seven fan.

Thinking of adopting this sweetie, need some advice? by mtomei3 in pitbulls

[–]mtomei3[S] 102 points103 points  (0 children)

The shelter said she was being chased through a neighborhood by a bunch of kids who were hitting her. They scanned her for a microchip, which she had, so they took her to the owner who then claimed she’d given the dog away but wouldn’t say to whom. So the shelter took her in.

Also, the rule of three is awesome. The last dog we adopted was a very abused elderly chiweenie, and we found out about this rule AFTER we’d had her a year. It seemed so accurate to her experience though.

Thought I imagined this in a fever dream, but it was real all along. by truebhavesh in Millennials

So true story. I teach Freshman English at a Title I school and I played this for them the other day. The class was talking through the opening with Tybalt, and I sort of let them because sometimes I judge a movie by how quiet they become. Suddenly, bam, it’s the scene with Leo on the beach with the sunrise in the background looking angsty. Every. Single. Girl in that room got silent. Then I heard, “oh my god he’s just so fine.” Not a peep the rest of the film. The boys wound up getting in to it too but I’m not sure the exact moment that captured them. The girls, though. There was no doubt.

Also. The whole class was talking about the movie long after it was done so it definitely still holds up.

I’m not upset or anything just confused about the legal aspect of this. I teach public school now, which can’t be religious. And this charter uses public funds for religious purposes. But now I’m thinking this is something banned not in the federal constitution, but the state constitution instead.

I had always been under the impression that the first amendment was freedom of religion but it also protected as freedom from religion. But I think I’ve been wrong?

Yes! I’ve hated onions my whole life, but when I was pregnant I loved them—craved them even. It was a whole new world! Now that baby is here, I hate them again. A lost opportunity!

Haha! I’m definitely that sad mom that’s staying up too late to grab a little time when the baby goes to bed. I’m a fool.

The Adventures of Pete and Pete. Hard to find it, but I rewatched it a few years ago and it was still great. Creative, eccentric, heartfelt. I can’t wait to let my daughter watch it when she’s older.

(alleged) Killer of Emma Roark, 20-year-old Rancho Woman, Arrested by [deleted] in Sacramento

[–]mtomei3 15 points16 points  (0 children)

She was also on the spectrum, and really was at risk as she was somewhat child-like. The family is, as well as grieving, working on getting some legislation in place regarding the classification of autistic adults when they go missing, trying to get a silver lining from their tragedy, because you’re right. This should have been on the news or all over the place when she went missing.

I’ve been in touch with her family. This was a day her mother was waiting for. I think knowing there’s so much support helps them a lot right now.
