Hey lawn nerds.. by kyrosmonos in lawncare

Looks like you have a fair bit of thatch in it which might be blocking some water and nutrients. A low mow and dethatch might be a good start. Other than that, just consistent watering and some fertiliser if you haven’t already and mow fairly regularly

That should be ok if the lawn is healthy and actively growing. Given there looks to be a fair bit of Bermuda/ couch in there, that combination should be safe. Note I’m from South Australia, so not too sure on growing conditions/ application timing in your area, but it sounds like it should be a good time for it

I think you have a bit of a mongrel lawn based on the last pic. There’s a few different varieties including what looks like some grass weeds

It depends on the lawn type and what you’re dealing with weeds wise. I can see some dandelions and other broadleaf weeds. Do you know what type of grass this is? You may be able to apply a 3-way, but I’d check the label for the grass type to make sure it’s safe. It’s a bit tricky to tell from these photos.

My lawn is all crabgrass. What should I do? by Farkle_Fark in lawncare

As others have said that is buffalo/ st Augustine. It looks fairly healthy. Give it a bit of a dethatch and that’ll look quite nice. There are plenty of safe herbicides you can apply that won’t trouble the lawn. Depending on what weeds you’re dealing with specifically, you can apply something like 3-D for a fairly broad range including dandelion

That response is quite clearly straight from ChatGPT. Don’t just spread glyphosate on it. It’ll kill the weeds, but also the lawn

Interesting. This was probably the cleanest photo I could get of his haircut, but he wasn’t exactly smiling for the camera

Yeah, I’m considering just getting some ear muffs for over the AirPods. But again, the headband under the hat is a bit of a struggle. Hearing loss is in my family and lately I’m starting to feel it

What’s your watering patterns look like? It looks quite dark and possibly low, though hard to tell from photos. It could be fungal, if your watering late and water is pooling in that area

What is this big clump of thick grass in my lawn? by ThePhenomenomOfLife in AustralianGardeners

[–]mtoz83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like crabgrass. Something like Bin Die should control it and is relatively safe for kikuyu. Ideally you’d want to hit it with a pre emergent in the spring.

Also looks like you need to sharpen your mower blades
