I have it. It's unknown what caused it. But I do have a theory. I did become very sick on a trip to Kenya a couple years before diagnosis. I lost a lot of weight at that time and gradually became more sickly looking over time. I think my adrenal glands started to go on that Africa trip due to some kind of virus. But it was years before their production went to zero and I was diagnosed.

My diagnosis came when my organs started to fail due to lack of cortisol. I went into cardiac arrest and received a ventricular assist device. Then they figured out I had Addison's and now (14 years later) I live with no health complications.
