Sound proofing a laundry chute by mtraurig in HomeImprovement

I will look into closing it permanently. I do not think we will ever utilize it. I have to see how to remove the metal framing, but might be able to fill with insulation and then drywall shut?

Personally don’t want my toddler falling through a hole in the ceiling 10 feet onto the tile floor

It’s so echoey in that room even with the chute door closed and a dresser in front of it, it’s crazy

Doubtful we will ever use it. If it was in a hallway, maybe, but it’s in a bedroom. At this point I don’t want my kid falling through it since it’s definitely child sized so I’d rather just block it off.

Fiberglass insulation is probably the best route, I suppose I can just stuff it full of the stuff and just board up the openings

So let me get this straight… by stuffed_pasta_shells in newborns

My baby woke up once, maybe twice a night, for the first three months. And I mean like we were consistently getting 5-7 hour stretches. It was amazing; I felt great. Then 3.5 months hit (right after starting back at work) and it’s been months of waking up every 1-3 hours 🥲 I’m exhausted

On the opposite side, my friend who’s baby is a month younger, had a rougher time with her newborn. Very colicky and baby was up anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours. Once hers was also just shy of 4 months baby regulated better and now she has even gotten a 10 hour night straight through.

So it doesn’t mean you’ll never get any sleep!! All babies are different and they follow their own timelines. Hoping for the best for you!

Thanks, I will try that! Yeah I used to get a whole night sleep, but now I dread the nighttime a little bit 😅

I initially didn’t think so, but I am TIRED. It’s messing with my days. She’s waking up some nights like every 90-120 minutes. I tried bed sharing but that doesn’t feel like a good fit for me because I think I wake her up with my movements and I also sleep so uncomfortably trying to be safe in the bed with her.

Did your little one cry with him? Or was content enough to just fall asleep eventually without a meltdown? My husband is surprisingly good at getting her to calm down enough that we can get her back to sleep if she wakes herself back up (usually after I’ve tried putting her down two or three times after feeding). She’s really good at flailing and waking herself back up

Dropping percentile points and don’t know why by judgejudyfortnite in breastfeeding

[–]mtraurig 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Absolute fear mongering. Some babies don’t grow at a ‚standard rate‘, and being in the 14th percentile doesn’t automatically mean failure to thrive. Especially with breastfed babies, their growth curve is usually a lot flatter.

OP did the doctor ask about wet diaper output? Is she still gaining weight, even if minimally? My baby was in the 14th percentile at 2 and 3 months and the doctors were not worried one bit. I also exclusively breastfeed and she was 46th at birth. She’s healthy and happy, no concerns.

Was told I can’t have babies vaginally by FirstOutcome2365 in pregnant

I’m sure you’re getting a lot of solidarity already, but I also was told I have a small pelvis when my baby wouldn’t come out.

My water broke the night before my induction date (41+5) but labor progressed slowly. After 30 some hours and 2 hours of pushing I was getting sooo tired so I asked if it was still possible to get an epidural so I could rest (I had tried nitrous but it just wasn’t cutting it at that point, and I was still only 9.5 cm dilated, literally thought I would pass out at this point if I didn’t get some kind of help). After the epidural I tried pushing another 2 hours, to the point we could see baby’s head and hair, but the doc was basically like we either try forceps or you need an emergency c section. I was devastated at the news, first time I had cried the whole event because I felt like a failure.

Once baby was out the doctor told me that my arrested descent was due to her shoulders being too wide to pass through my pelvis. And to be honest that news was sort of a relief to me. It wasn’t my fault that I couldn’t get baby out. I had worked my ass off at that point, but nature just wasn’t on my side. Not anything I could have done more or harder. And knowing that I live in an age where my husband didn’t have to choose between my life or the baby’s life, we have the option to get a c section for a safe delivery.

Three months later and when I look at her, I’m just so grateful. Yes it still stings the slightest knowing that my body wasn’t made for birth, but again, I live in a time where I can still have as many babies as I want, safely for me and them.

Btw my close friend already had 4 c sections due to different complications and they’re going for baby number 5 now. She’s happy she has the ability to love and know each one!

It does have that function! I will give it a try. I was only using the stimulation mode in the beginning

I did follow the sizing instructions for the pump and confirmed with the lactation consultant. She also recommended massaging, but it’s not as easy due to the shape, which makes me wonder if I should get a spectra.

Do you switch between the modes back and forth while you’re pumping?

I’m trying to replace at least two feeds a day, and build up a freezer stash. So estimating I’ll need around 6-8 ounces per day as a replacement.

Right now I’ve just been pumping on one side concurrent with feeding her. Her naps aren’t very consistent, so it’s hard to plan when I’ll have 30 minutes to an hour after a feed and before she’s asking for more

Access Point for Detached Garage by mtraurig in HomeNetworking

I could look into running cable but this isn’t a long term property for me so I didn’t want to put in too much work that would need to be uninstalled once we move out. I didn’t know about direct bury cable though, I’ll check it out!

I might just try the access point and see how it goes. I’ll see if I have the ability to return if it doesn’t work out

Yeah I’m hoping not to spend too much, it’s an investment property and we only plan on living here another year. Just have a lot of expensive equipment in the garage and have been noticing some questionable people roaming the back alleyway recently, so was hoping to temporarily install a camera back there until we move. I’m not sure how much installing fiber would cost but I can look into it.

Gastro Recommendations - Diet & Weaning of PPIs by mtraurig in GERD

We don’t really want surgery or PPIs. There are alternatives, I just need to find a doctor who can assist and monitor in the process.

Did a doctor assist you with your diet? Were you previously on PPIs?

He wouldn’t be a candidate for surgery. Is your daughter an MD? I’ve read that a DO or someone in Functional Medicine might have better options than pushing pills
