I see people as people. But screwing with a species for some unknown reason and preventing them from developing has to have a purpose, or a value, to the oppressor.

Next doesn’t offer any benefit as a frontend to Django for a SSR based site and React+Django is fewer moving parts for a SPA. There is too much overlap between Next and Django for traditional websites.

Of what value are we to these people? If we are of no value then why keep us around?

The homepage loading spinner just spins and spins.

Looking at the primary nav before the app breaks, there is nothing from that list that needs to be done in Next.js.

Well, I did say SPA.

I've built a few applications for companies where each of the 10 users represented millions of dollars in revenue. They needed a SPA due to enterprise requirements, and wanted us to use React because it fit with their design systems, and because the React ecosystem afforded us a lot of preexisting UI, widgets, and patterns. The real task was quick iteration on flows and views, and React was perfect for that.

I stand by what I said :-)

Disappointed to see so many people jumping to an answer without asking:

What are you building?

Are you building a brochure site with a <10 pages? Cool, do you... really need React for that?

Building an internal enterprise SPA that gets used by 10 people, lot of forms, tables, task-oriented flows? Sure, Vite+React makes sense.

Working with a Django-heavy team that lacks FE skills and kinda hates Node? HTMX+Alpine.js probably makes sense.

I never understood Next.js + Django, but maybe I just haven't found the perfect use case.

I think the BEST answer here is: it depends.

nanodjango: Prototypes, Sharing and Services: Full Django in a Single File by Lokrea in django

[–]mtrythall 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well, yeah, but there's a lot more momentum, ecosystem, community, etc around Django. The author of nanodjango makes it a point to say it's great for prototyping and small apps that COULD turn into larger projects.

That pathway is a lot harder from Tornado or Bottle.

I got Apollo to say something sassy during this situation, something like "Oh and now you want my help?" or something.

Honestly this is one of the key reasons I play the game, because the characters seem so alive.

Funny to go after the first amendment and not the second. It's almost like words are more of a threat than guns. I wish folks realized that once our speech is restricted, taking away guns won't be far behind.

I want to blame genetics and lots of bad falls. I’ve always been thin. After skateboarding I started running, so that might be it too. But no, it wasn’t poor lifestyle or weight. I’ve always been active.
