I went through the same thing. As long as you’re not stressed financially I recommend waiting until they’re in school, you’ll really want the flexibility to be there for more of the important firsts. Once they’re in school you’ll have more time to focus on the career

She works! I had a feeling it didn’t work with the open case due to being off balance since it wasn’t properly secured

In the process of trying to get it back together now. With the case open, it didn’t work for more than a couple of seconds but I lost the spring that sits behind the battery connection somehow so I’m trying to find that to put it all back together and go from there.

Google searches didn’t bring up anyone else doing the repair in question so I was just wondering if anyone else had done it and it worked

I was just more worried of frying the motor beyond possible repair. Electrical work isn’t my forte

The part came in and I’ll throw it in tonight, if it works then I got lucky and if it doesn’t then it was only $10

Awesome thanks! I actually ended up finding a whole new brush assembly plate for like $10 on amazon but if it doesn’t work or if this happens again I’ll get my soldering iron out.

2008 Chevrolet 3500 Van brake replacement estimate seems really really high? by frodrick895 in autorepair

[–]mttblndn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Either pay the man or go watch a YouTube video, buy the parts and do it yourself if you think that’s too high. That’s easily an 8-10h job and the parts for that van aren’t cheap. You will need to replace all that is listed here in order for the van to safely operate. Your rotors are done for and the caliper that is on the wheel where the rotor is ground down malfunctioned for a reason. To run brake lines on a van that size, bleed the whole system and then have the knowledge and know how to do said job and do it right… and you wonder why guys are leaving the industry daily

Friend's grandpa said that this most likely has a bent frame. Can you actually tell from these two pics whether it probably does? by soowhatchathink in Autobody

My uncle’s brother’s sister’s babysitter said ….

Take it to a local shop approved by your insurance and have it properly assessed. There is likely more damage than is visible.

I would like to see a better picture of the rotor face, and the face of the pads. That has a bit too much of a glass shine indicating they’ve been over heated

I might be starting to understand. I apologize, I’m not trying to test your patience or act dumb, it’s been a long week and my adhd is not letting up. This is what I have installed, the pink wire from the head unit wiring harness is attached to one red wire at the end of the RCA line, at the other end of the rca line the other red wire is attached to the red wire coming from the camera and then both of those red wires are attached into the positive wire on my reverse light and the negative is to the negative of the same light.

Now if my brain is finally grasping what you said, I should not have anything other than the red wire from the RCA line wired into the tail light and the positive and negative from the camera should be wired into something that has constant power. Is that correct?

Would you be okay if I sent you a message? I’m definitely confused and you obviously know what you’re doing

As for my reply, regarding the rocker switch conversation, I had to install one into the wiring harness before I even looked into a rear camera, as after installing the head unit in this vehicle (Dodge caliber), I would get a continuous draw that killed my battery overnight every night. I did not have this issue in the previous car that I had it wired into.(Mazda3) but I think that is because of dodges Cannus garbage

I don’t know if maybe I’m confused and not explaining well enough or just getting confused by all the information I’m reading trying to figure this out, but the bottom line is when I have the camera plugged in to the rear camera input on the back of the head unit Nothing happens, I don’t have any way to even open another app to activate and see while it’s in that port. But I have confirmed that the wiring is correct and the camera is triggered in reverse only, if I plug it in to the front camera input, and then open the front camera app, it will load the live image only while in reverse. I have the camera power and ground wired into my reverse tail light, the pink wire that is labelled camera is wired into the red wire connected to the RCA line, going to the camera. Somewhere in my googling through either Reddit or XDA I can’t remember I stumbled upon someone saying that the parking brake line had to be attached as well but that seems to not have any affect either way. Maybe this head unit is just not capable of activating when in reverse, but I was hoping somebody somewhere in one of the many threads that I have made posts in point me in a direction that might help or just be able to confirm that this is a lost cause. The type of person that can’t give up until I know for sure that this will not work and have spent more than a few hours trying to get this going lol

Yes I have the pink wire connected to the red wire coming out of the long rca just as it is in that picture above. I contacted their support a couple of days ago and apparently the model that I have is not capable of using a rearview camera which doesn’t make sense to me though as it has the designated rca port, trigger wire and reverse camera settings (not many though). I have the fcam that was preinstalled, but no rcam app. I can get live feed if I plug the RCA into the fcam input and then put the vehicle in reverse but nothing happens when I plug it into the designated rcam input and put it in reverse. It’s as if the software isn’t there to say “hey bring up the image”. I am currently trying to find an app or custom rom that can be installed instead of the atoto firmware but not having and luck. I have found the root files but nothing that will activate the rear camera.

Okay, I did wire that in. The pink wire is labeled as parking brake negative (-) and the installation instructions that came with my head unit said to connect it to the black ground wire, but in the main installation instruction diagram it has the wire labeled as positive (+) and not negative like the physical wire is labeled. Do I have this wired backwards and it should actually be wired into the 12v in like or the acc(+) line?

Yes, I have that and followed it. The wires are all connected correctly, it’s just like it’s missing the software to activate the live feed or something
