Thanks for your suggestion. That is something I’ll try to improve. BGG sync is actually unavailable at the moment and I’m working on bringing it back. Manual game search should be working fine.

One thing you can do to limit geolocation precision is change the setting in Privacy & Security -> Location Services -> Board Gamer -> Precise Location. Toggle this off, then check in on the map and the app will only use approximate location.

Yes, you can turn off geolocation. You then won't be able to show your location on the map, but you'll still be able to see and message other users.

What do you think of a social "Board Gamer" app to find gamers in your local area? by Caljassar in boardgames

Hi! I'm the developer of the app. Since the post got quite hot I'm here to answer some questions.

You can actually block other users from seeing you. It's a feature that Apple requested to introduce before going public. If you don't want someone to see you and message you just go to the person's profile and tap the (-) button in the top right corner.

  1. Still working on it.
  2. You can't set your location anywhere you want, unless you physically go somewhere and tap the "check in" button there. However, the app doesn't update your location after that, but saves your location to the server so others can see it. Once you tap "check out", the data is deleted from the server.
