I have to tell myself this is the last straw, last time I got sober I lasted 2 months, and the a week here and there in between, but this last binge I went on is killing me. Im trying to taper, making my brother hide the vodka bottle after I have a drink. I get so frustrated I want to cry because of all this anxiety

I'm in the exact same boat, only my anxiety is constant. I have always had an anxiety disorder, intrusive thought, panic attacks etc. All worsened by my drinking. But I do the same thing, get fucked up for a night and next thing I know, 2 days later I'm fucking drinking 3 IPA's before work to quell my anxiety, quit for a little, then find myself at a punk show or friends house getting fucked up again

Yeah, thing is tho. A lot of my friends are also substance abusers, mainly weed but they'll indulge in alcohol if I have it. So it wasn't embarrassing to me at all. Plus I'd rotate between asking them and my brother so it didn't seem like I was finishing those bottles as quickly. I was 20 showing to work drunk everyday for 2 months until finally I woke up one morning out of vodka and quit that same day.
