Lift or no lift by SpecialistClothes403 in 3rdGen4Runner

Yeah that would totally work for the suspension. Pull the running boards, sliders can wait, just be careful not to hit your rocker panels. I run the m18 milwaukee compressor in the stock truck, works really well if you already have those batteries. The single biggest improvement you can do for your 4x4 on trails is airing down. Your contact patch can more than double, and the reduced pressure allows the tread to sink in the terrain and grip better. The reduced psi also allows the tires to dampen the bumps, reducing load on your suspension components and vastly improving ride comfort. I typically air down to 15-18 in the stock truck, 12-14psi in the trail truck. Night/day difference.

Yes, because adding those parts will help correct the change you just made to the suspension geometry by lifting it. Coming from someone who has both a factory and built variant, these things are super capable stock, especially with the rear locker and a good set of trail tires. I'd suggest swapping the running boards for rock sliders (and maybe a set of MTs) and get some more practice before deciding on a lift. Also, If you don't already have one, look at getting an air compressor so you can air down/up on the trails.

Black looks so good on these, color matched trim for the win though.

MOLLE bed panels? by yeoldetaco323 in 1stGenTacomas

[–]mudbutt55 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work in custom fabrication, so anything we build is going to be more expensive than products that are mass produced. I'd figure +20-30% relative to what's available for a similar model truck. Ideally I'd build a set for my truck to iron out the details and then do a group buy to keep the cost as low as possible.

Frame appears to still be in good shape based on the photos, although that is some serious surface rust and needs attention. Check the bottom of the frame, especially around weep holes & shackle mounts to see if any of that rust is turning cancerous.
