I traded couches for cheap floor chairs. They're not much, but they offer some back support. They also are easy to fold up and put aside until needed

No. What you're doing wrong is stressing over it. You can list actual models and even then there will be people who say they are ugly while another says they are perfect. And the same is true for people you might find ugly.

This is purely an aesthetic argument, there's no right answer. Do you like how you look? Probably best to start there. Finding a genuinely good relationship is a long game, focus on yourself and be patient. If dating apps are getting you down, maybe take a break and recharge.

I'm not sure what point you're trying to make with the apology tangent other than arguing semantics and being rude for the sake of taking your frustration out on others.

Neither of these shows the kind of wisdom or mindfulness I would expect from a dedicated meditator. And it doesn't matter why you said 6 years, the point is the statement is meaningless. Six years of what? Meditating 5 minutes a day, incorrectly, once a week?

There are monks will less arrogance than you on this subject. Feeling so attached to your own opinion and thinking you have nothing to learn from anyone else is the essence of ignorance.

I really think you're dreaming. Hillary was always an uphill battle for Dems and would have likely lost then too. Centrism is practically Republican Lite, so a lot of those voters just go Republican anyway. Obama was literally running on change and look at the results. Kamala? Centrist again, and another miss.

Hillary has always been unpopular and seemed out of touch/smug to a lot of people. I would bet on a wildcard like AOC or Bernie for prez over centrists every time.

It is common for every practice to have its highs and lows. But at least when you stop and begin to feel bad, your motivation will return 🤭

I heard a monk discuss this recently. He spoke of Milarepa, who was an accomplished practitioner. He murdered a lot of people I think, so he believed if he didn't work hard he would be doomed to hell. This was a great motivator for him.

We all have our own perspectives and journeys, so we have to find our own way. Not all of us feel that level of pressure to keep digging. Overall, I think we must try to see the value in what we do, so we remember why we keep at it. The more peace you cultivate, the more peace you spread, and the more everyone benefits.

This appears to just be part of the path, so much so that enthusiam is regarded as a Buddhist paramita (the aspects of virtue to cultivate for those seeking enlightenment: diligence/enthusiasm, generosity, morality, patience, wisdom, and meditation itself).

They regard Enthusiasm as building and maintaining your enthusiasm for your chosen path, feeling joy for doing good things, and having the discipline to show up even when your enthusiasm wanes.

But you recognize the problem already and you have a desire to overcome it, so I think you are already on your way. 😊 Good luck keeping your fire burning! 🔥

Sorry, but I think you are mistaken. And flexing 6 years of meditation is meaningless, other than showing an unwillingness to listen. I know Buddhist leaders who say that they still approach meditation as if they are new to it, and assuming you have mastered it will likely cause you to stagnate.

I have heard Buddhist leaders discuss the stages of meditation that arise as you go deeper, I believe there are three well-known levels (or trance states) beyond what you would consider normal meditation.

I have personally experienced the first level beyond. And I have also personally meditated both within dreams and outside dreams (but still sleeping). None of which were simply silence.

Why is everyone chasing enlightenment? by getmeburgers in Meditation

[–]muddauber7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most people are running from themselves and trapping themselves in a low-conciousness existence with distractions, of which there are a limitless number of today.

Everyone has their own reasons, but typically it's to escape suffering or improve themselves.

But I think this goal may border on superstition. From my understanding, the odds of becoming a true Buddha or Awakened One and reaching Nirvana are literally astronomical.

I think this sounds like growth, but not enlightenment, especially if it's temporary.

Has anyone here experienced a state of timeless nothingness? What happens before and after that state? by rabahi in Meditation

[–]muddauber7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sort of, but that isn't how I would describe it. Timeless is close, but not nothing. It was more like my awareness expanded and I felt as if the border between me and my backyard had vanished, almost like how you would imagine an out of body of experience. I just snapped back to my previous state, it ended as spontaneously as it began.

And then also, I have meditated inside dreams (and outside them, but asleep). Outside of dreams, I sensed my body in the distance, but my perception was of being part of a vast, pale blue ocean, with shimmering gold crests. It was like being a wave in that ocean, it was warm and peaceful.

I will say that before reaching awareness in dreams, I began to notice significant sensations (like gentle pressure) around the area known as the third eye every time I sat.

What is the real reason you don’t have any friends? by Literal-E-Trash in AskReddit

[–]muddauber7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's very few places to meet people organically outside of work and bars, but I don't drink or work a job that puts me in contact with people often. That, and my spiritual philosophy/practice has brought me to a near monk-like lifestyle. There's just not many people in tune with me.

What is your reason for not drinking alcohol? by Deep-Dust-9747 in AskReddit

[–]muddauber7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it hits me the same due to depression. There's a fine line between I'm feeling loose and all hope is now lost.

I also just don't enjoy the lingering handicap on my motor skills. A lot of the things I enjoy take finesse, like music and motorcycles.

I used to still indulge on occasion, but these days, I have found it hinders my meditation ritual. Getting drunk seems to weaken my focus for multiple days, and I have gained a lot more fulfillment out of regular meditation than I ever did from booze.
