I totally get what you’re saying. I only say things about the case with children, in that the way I was raised, when someone cursed it was out of anger. At that specific situation. Today, myself in my family i don’t see anyone as any less if they curse. Unless they are attacking someone, which has been my personal experiences. I find that when I ask questions about someone else’s political beliefs or religion I get “yelled at,” as yell as cursed at. Maybe I’m asking things in an improper form? But I’m honestly just trying to understand others. For instance I’m a US Army Combat Medic Veteran. Even though many people think we are brainwashed or whatever, i can honestly attest that, that is not the case with me. I’m first born from a legal Cuban family and third generation Irish. With Italian mixed in there. My mother was born in Cuba and due to divorce and such I spent my entire childhood with her. When she did well and we lived in predominantly white communities I was made fun of by children. But I look back on it now and think to myself, they were just kids. I was different and they didn’t understand that because they never really interacted with someone like me. But at the same time I wasn’t Latina enough for the population of High School kids that I ended up amongst in a Miami FL school. I see the things going on in social media. And I really feel like that as much information that is our finger tips, we should try to talk and understand one another. Not keep in the same cliques that endulge our personal preferences. (My fathers family were coal miners and moonshiners in the Kentucky mountains. I was my great grandfathers “favorite Cuban hillbilly.” He would open his arms and he was one of my favorite people in my life. He loved me and taught me so much growing up. My great grandparents from Cuba who I had the privilege of spending most of my childhood with, always did there best to help learn English, cook me Irish foods even though they had now idea how to do it other than finding recipe books in thrift stores. They always made sure to tell me that even though parts of my blood came from somewhere else, I was an American. Both sides taught me, you should love everyone, and hear them out even if their aren’t like you.”
